Check a film site ... for film cameras and other equipment is growing ... someone is probably interested in what you have to sell ...

As we all know the lenses are useable on modern DSLR's and also the flash to certain extent. However, unless it's an EOS-1 of any version or at least an EOS-3 most EOS film cameras are not as valuable as older Canon film cameras made before the EOS.

A friend has asked me to post for sale the following:

Canon EOS 650 SLR
EF 50mm f/1.8 ll Canon lens
Tamron ASPHERICAL 28-80 mm lens
Canon Grip GR20
Canon Remote Switch 60 T3
Canon Speedlite 420EZ
Hoya Filter 52mm (high quality) UV
Canon Filter UV Haze
Instructions books for Camera and Speedlight

She says that everything is in excellent condition.

Is there any demand for this stuff? Will any of it work with Canon DSLRs?

Many colleges are now requiring real hands on darkroom work with film as an entry to their photo arts programs.

On eBay you can look it up and on the right side from eBay you can click on how many are really sold

Last time in the local camera shop I learned that they are seeing (maybe encouraging?) renewed interest in film. Maybe some of the same kind of thinking that brings vinyl back to the music scene...in any event there is a, probably niche but still, market for film cameras, with an increasing availability of film and processing. What kind of pricing this supports is of course another question, maybe tricky to answer (outside of the auction possibilities online).

Film is now so popular that it has it's own specialty section on UHH: Film Photography

But to our OP's question, all that equipment is of minimal residual value in soon to be 2022. For EOS film cameras, the cheapest Rebel film versions are just $30 a body if you can sell them at all. They all 'drive' the latest and greatest EF lenses, so with the camera's meter and the lens AF and IS, you don't need anything any fancier to produce excellent film images. Oddly, the older manual focus / pre EOS era bodies have more value, and the FD lens market has both shot up and now almost completely disappeared since the FD lenses can be shot on mirrorless digital bodies.

my second comment. I sold my last three film cameras on this site. Two Canons and one Nikon.
Film is not dead but here in the Dallas / Ft.Worth area there is a lot of film users actively keeping the interest alive and well.
One camera store in Garland I was in last year, they sell and process film every day and have nice selection of films. They processed several rolls for me and told me how alive and well film use still is.
Another camera store in Dallas I frequented. He has a selection of vintage film cameras and used gear of all kinds. He has a large and wide selection of film too. I know, I bought a ton of film from him. Sometimes runs out of popular kinds of film. One day about a year ago or so, as I was walking in and a lady was leaving with a sack full of film. She cleaned out his shelf of the film type she was using. She is a professional and she told him that even today, she still will have a client, mostly weddings, who request the job be shot all in film. Some want Black and White added to the mix too. So she has a place locally to get her film.
Because of this area there are many local camera stores and film processing, even same day. So I can see why film use is still being used here.
As members have stated, there should me a buyer if she wants to sell. Post it here on UHH.
My two cent comments for today.
Good luck bro,
Bruce.

There is little use of film on this forum. However, there has been a huge resurgence of 35mm film in photography in general. Especially with the young generation of hobbyist. Pop in 35mm film photography on U tube and they are everywhere. B&H has seen a massive increase in the sale of 35mm film with Kodak Portra 400 being the biggest seller. Many pro-photographers are shooting both digital and film (120 and 35mm).

Look at recent sales on eBay. Do a search for you specific gear, and see the selling prices.

How about donation to school photography club. I'm sure they're some who dabble in B &W film and bulk load it. Maybe tax deduction too.

That's what I did. I donated (tax deductible) Nikon N80.

I scrolled the list looking for comparables. The first EOS 1v at $745 is a price increase from the $600 I paid on ebay in 2014. An EOS 1N at $199 is a reasonable price for a pro-grade film camera. The best comparable is the $65 EOS Elan IIE that kicked-in a Tamron zoom lens along with the body.

When people said mirrorless cameras they meant MILC not simply a camera without the mirror. Cameras without mirror were available for more than 100 years.

Really?! As if I don't actually know that. But that's not the point. The M in MILC obviously stands for Mirrorless, just like the D in DSLR stands for Digital. Mirrorless cameras have been around since the invention of the camera, as we know it, around 1816. The first practical camera was developed around 1840; also mirrorless. Until the development of reflex cameras, pretty much all cameras were mirrorless. Every one of my over a dozen bridge cameras, are mirrorless, yet none are MILC'S. MIRRORLESS means only one thing, no mirror. And what about Sony DSLT cameras? Yes, they have a mirror, but it doesn't work like a DSLR, more like an MILC, which it is not.

As you know camera without mirror was old and even digital cameras were mirrorless when they were introduced in the late 90's. But the term mirrorless isn't used until around 2010 when they introduced mirrorless digital camera with interchangeable lenses. So when people use the term mirrorless they mean digital camera (not film), with interchangeable lenses and yes provides viewing thru the lens although without a mirror. So something like a Leica M that doesn't have live view (as some of them do have live view) is not a mirrorless even though it has interchangeable lenses and no mirror. The SLR are indeed mirrorless because the thru the lens viewing isn't made thru the translucent mirror like the old pelix camera.

Didn't I hear about a camera maker introducing a model for the ladies? It will have a mirror on the back so they can check their appearance every time they take a picture. Maybe that was just a rumor.
