Well I took the leap into mirrorless. I was going to wait for the Nikon Z9 to come out, but I didn’t want to wait. 😁 I received an email from Nikon about their sale. One was a refurbished Z5. I couldn’t pass it up. It was $400.00 off new and an additional 10% of the sales price. So I pulled the trigger and purchased it with the 70-200mm kit lens. I thought this was an opportunity for me to move over to mirrorless. If I didn’t care for it I could always return it. The added bonus is it only had 484 clicks on this camera.
Everything I read and saw on YouTube was generally positive.
I have only had it a couple of days but I am so far very pleased with this combination. I will continue to hold onto my D7200 of which I love. I can see adding more Z lenses down the road.

Personally, I feel that you made a good purchase here. The Z5 is a very good camera and it will be a great backup when you decide to go full frame.

So far I very happy with this purchase. Even though it was listed as refurbished it is basically brand new. It only had 484 clink on it when I got it. I still have my D7200 but going forward it will probably only be Z line lenses that I purchase.
This maybe a basic FF camera, but at this point it fills my needs.

Went to a Z9 DEMO on Wednesday. Nikon rep said don't expect a Z9 in your hands before April or May if you are on a waiting list now.

Seems he has *already* gone full frame.

Yeah, that is why I went with the Z5, I didn't want to wait. I think the Z5 is fine for me right now. Something I can enjoy for awhile.

Yup the 5 is definitely full frame. That is why I didn't want the Z50.

This lens and the 24-50mm 24-70mm are all considered kit lens. They have plastic barrels and the attachment rings are aluminum and not brass. variable Apertures 4.6-6.3. The slower aperture is reflected in the price of the lens. No nano coating. Their Z 70-200mm S series 2.8 is $2400.00.
But overall the lens I purchased to get started in the mirrorless camera area is sharpe lightweight and a good lens to start out with. Everything I read and saw on YouTube were general very positive.

Thanks Bill, I am thinking that 50mm is my next lens to purchase. After that one the next lens would be the 85mm. But that purchase is not written in stone. I will purchase the F mount converter so I can use my 100-400 mm and 150-600 mm lens.

Frank, if you are interested I have the first generation Nikon Ftz mount Adapter, still new in box, never used, that I would be willing to sell you. PM me if interested.

There is no 70-200 kit lens. Did you mean 70-300?

Bingo! This is a nice sharp all around lens. Check out the reviews. Happy shooting with it!
By the way I’m also a Jersey resident. (Not to proud of that though)😀
