Almost 4 years ago, I was in Cuba in a workshop. I am finally getting around to putting some of those photos into my main LR library. Here are three that I took in a small village west of Havana.

I remember that a couple of the ladies in the workshop verbalized their fantasies about this gentleman. I am pretty sure they had not checked out his smile.

I spent a year in our navy base in Cuba. It was in 1952. About 400 to 500 Cubans worked there. All were very find people. I don't think Castro wanted us to leave and have all those people out of work. After I was home the Commies
Sent ships with missiles that could reach the US. Our Navy met and turned them around and sent them back to the USSR.

I believe the missiles were in place on Cuban soil. The Navy blockaded Cuba after the installation of the missiles. At least that is how I remember it.

Yes, due to the backbone of JFK. The current administration would simply smile and wave as the ships bringing the missiles passed by.

JFK's backbone came from his service in the Navy during WWII. The current CINC hasn't done anything for our country.

I was stationed at Camp Lejeune in the early 60's during the Cuban Missile Crisis. We were all very concerned about the missiles there - but we also ready to go if we were told to go.

I was also Lejeune at that time. I was in the 2nd Force Recon Battalion, I was part of the two teams that were sent to Gitmo., and we did go"over the wire"
