Please could I have some advise on a general good quality lightweight sturdy tripod?

I use the Manfrotto 190PROB with a 322RC2 head. The head allows you to easily change the position of the camera. The 190 is fine for what I use it for which is a D300 + lens. The heaviest I use with it is a 105 Macro. It works great for my uses. Don't recall what I paid-- but there are plenty of retailers that carry it on line. I bought mine at a brick & mortar-- and probably paid more than online.

After all this advice, fifteen entries I believe, I strongly suggest you go to YouTube for some show and tell. It may help you sort through things and save some time over following all the valuable links that have been posted.

I think you will find this valuable. Maybe you've already been there. Or, bought one already? :-)

I did read it. Well, parts of it. Very densly packed info here, esp good for Nikon guys.

I looked at your pics. Especially liked your landscapes. Many really stand out as representative of a a keen vision. Unique style. It would appear that you get around a lot, and, so far, have escaped the embrace of the cougar.

Keep up the good work.

Richard

Check out Hahnel 100...All metal construction complete with large Ballhead. Extremely solid construction and supports my Nikon with Battery grip and 70-300 lens with no trouble at all, could take double that......A very good low cost tripod, but not exactly'lightweight' although I have no trouble carrying it.

Hello smd25

I could not find any spec's on it. Point us to a site that gives info?

Hahnel is Irish, here is their website:

I am not sure if they have an American distributor though.
