Over 300 people have found themselves in trouble with the police between 2008 and 2016 because Hertz reported their rental cars as stolen. And the false reporting continues. One woman spent 40 days in jail. Another womkan lost her real estate license over it. A man is facing felony charges. People have been arrested at gunpoint and handcuffed.

Makes me wonder how the cars were reported stolen. Most likely a computer/software error showing the cars not returned before the real return date. Or a kid with a sick sense of humor. If I spent 40 days in jail for renting a car from them, I sue the s#%t out of them.

One guy never even rented from them, and he's facing a felony charge. There are lots of lawsuits.

There are a dozen listings in that Google search. You must be able to read at least one.

Has nothing to do with "JOE BRANDEN" But everything to do with messed up, non caring, incompetent, greedy people occupying positions they are not qualified to hold.

Not to mention defamation of character if the arrest and incarceration resulted in public reporting in the media.

Agreed, however, the justice system in the USA is under attack and is setting what appear to be new priorities that are significant and may well contribute to unjust prosecutions in many arenas…
Merry Christmas!

Without reading the whole story, didn't all these people have a copy of the lease agreement to show the cops?

I don't know about that, but except for one case, they didn't deny renting the car. Hertz says they never returned it.

Well, if they didn't return it, and didn't make arrangements to continue the rental, it is stealing. So why the fuss?
