This is Taco, my son and daughter-in-laws guard cat. He began his 14 year life as a rescue from the streets of Brooklyn and now conducts patrols in Westchester County, NY. He sleeps during the day and his evening patrols cover the entire house. To prove his worth, during the winter when the field mice seek warmer quarters indoors, he produces carcasses of the trespassers to my daughter-in-law.

What a great picture! I hope he gets rewarded for his gifts.

Nice use of available light and Taco's pose. Ginger kitties are the best. Not that I’m prejudiced.

Thanks, Pete. His pose in the light is what caused me to take the shot.

Thanks, Gene. He is similar to a cat that my wife and I had when we first married.

In past years, we had as many as four, some of which “followed” me home from across the Delaware river. Some were great mousers, even though all had bells on their collars. What I could not figure out was how they let the air out of the presents they left on the garage steps.

Lovely passive solar cat. We do not have mice, but my cat enjoys trying to catch them on Cat TV. (This YouTube video is eight hours long! I do not trust the cat with the TV when I am not supervising, however...)

Beautiful portrait of this lovely cat, Mike. My late cat did not present me with full carcasses but we would find multiple little mouse gallbladders around. That part must taste pretty bile! 🥴
