In this price bracket what which would you suggest?

Not familiar with these two specific models, but I have own close older cousins of each, and both work well

The pix,a does a food job on photos, but not a high volume office printer. That’s why I have the Epson, though I can’t tell u how it is on photos as I have never tried

All of that said, if you are looking at even a moderate volume of printing, would look at printers with the large refillable tanks. If u do any volume at all, especially of photos, those little cartridges will indeed kill u as mentioned above

I have had and used all major brand ink printers. Out of all them, I have found Canon Pixma printers to be the best as far as producing quality prints and having the least problems. They are also stingy with ink usage.
Make sure that whatever printer you choose to buy, get one that uses 5 or 6 different color cartridges.
Not one that uses 1 or 2 cartridges.

When I was looking for a new printer, I was advised that the Epson Workforce was NOT a particularly good photo printer. That it's excellent as an office printer, but not great for photos.

Epson ET4800 $249.99 Comes with ink to print 4500 black and 7500 color pages

The ET4800 will do everything that the 8720 will do. I have no experience with Canon printers, but they now make a CIS printer as well and I'm sure their products live up to Canon's reputation.

The $249 price is the Target sale price. The only reason I can think of for buying a printer that uses cartridges would be for 6 color printers where there aren't CIS models....YET.

You’ll save a small fortune on ink by getting an EcoTank printer. I’m done buying ink in tiny cartridges. Bottles are much more economical and better for the environment!

The Epson Eco-Tank printers are expensive and the ink is very inexpensive. There are other brands that have tanks as well that are very inexpensive to operate, If you do a lot of printing the tank printers are worth it. The only issue is that you have to use them or the ink nossels will jam.

How would you characterize the quality of the photo prints from your EcoTank printer? I’m seriously thinking of getting one for 4 X 6 and 5 X 7 prints (get larger prints from professional labs).

Epson have not stooped to those levels - yet!

Any printer will last much longer with frequent use. Print at least one full color 8x10 each week if you want clear heads.

Pigment printers clog most frequently, as pigment particles settle out of suspension. Dyes stay dissolved, but even dye inks dry out over time and clog.

My Canon pro 100 decided to be a paperweight by not being capable of printing Blue or Black without a pink cast. I just purchased another Canon ip 8720 for about $350 and so far so good
