A "Double Crested Cormorant" drying its feathers after diving for fish. He is on a little concrete island in the pond and drying his feathers so sorta "on water".
The angle of the light brings out all kinds of hints of other colors. Add on the bright green eye as a contrast. The only thing I missed was the yellow orange of the beak which at this angle and being still wet was a partly washed out high light.

Excellent shot of a cool bird, Bob!
Well, some people took the bait, eventually, after the fourth try.
The light on the feathers and back make it an excellent shot and that blue-green eye is particularly striking. Excellent shot!

The post to Main Photography Discussion was a mistake, I had just woken from nodding off while reading - I asked and Admin deleted it.
Photo Gallery - the place the most people look.
Closeup - it is a close up of the bird
Birds in flight/Birds on Water - it is a bird

I like it very much! Nice feather detail and great shot of the eye!
Beautiful capture. Very difficult to get a detailed photo of any black bird; good light, good angle.
