Tonight, more than 200 years after a former colony won the right to determine its own destiny, the task of perfecting our union moves forward.

It moves forward because of you. It moves forward because you reaffirmed the spirit that has triumphed over war and depression; the spirit that has lifted this country from the depths of despair to the great heights of hope -- the belief that while each of us will pursue our own individual dreams, we are an American family, and we rise or fall together, as one nation, and as one people.

I think re-electing Obama sets us back those 200 years IMO

In all seriousness, I woke up today and resigned myself to accept the fact that Obama will occupy the White House for another four years. I decided to give him a chance to work things out with the rest of our idiotic government to possibly....I mean just possibly move this country an inkling in any direction but down.

Then this evening I'm scrolling throuh Ugly Hedgehog and opening posts here and there until I come to this one.

You do realize that Barack Obama is not a freaking God.......don't you?!? He is not the messiah. He is an unqualified human put in a position that is way over his head. He puts his pants on the same way as every other person with two legs. I can only imagine the tears pooring out of your eyes as you typed your worthless drivel.

Do you realize that spewing bulls**t like that is part of what makes a lot of people dislike the man?

You really REALLY need to get a life.

That's right, go ahead and burst my bubble. I was all set to join the National Church of Barack and adopt Obamaism as my official religion. Of course, that would require that I accept Bush as the anti-Barack and proclaim that he is the root of all that is evil and responsible for everything that has gone wrong in the world in the last 200 years. Ahhhhh, that is a small price to pay to be among the throngs of Obamaians that will be led to the Promised Land by our savior. How do I know he will be so great? Look at all the miraculous things he accomplished in his first four years and then he was completely inexperienced. Just think what he can do now that he has four years of experience!!!

All right, that's enough. I am even making myself sick! Let's just hope we get through this next four years without him selling the farm.

The election is over... Obama was re-elected. If you voted for him, great... If not, get over it. He is president and we should allow him to lead the country.

Its congress that could be the primary obstacle in all this. Let's hope and pray that they can actually WORK TOGETHER to help our society move forward. Four more years of obstructionism and the blame-game will not be productive and, ultimately, harmful to the U.S. of A..

Just because Obama won another term doesn't mean that the people who didn't vote for him just sit back and let the country be led down a path of his choosing. No, we still make our voices heard in every way possible .... helping to influence our community, our state, and ultimately our country.

What you say is true and correct however; you fail to mention that those who are blamed as obstructionists can not, and would be morally wrong to, get out of the way of harmful proposals and just go along to get along. Obama can not have it all his way and I am afraid that his outreach to the opposition is just that. He will not yield yet he expects them to yield. Wonderful situation.

"Move on", "Move Forward", "Go Forward" - to WHAT? That's what I'm afraid of -"Spread it around Joe", "Price of gas must go up", "Start a coal fired electric plant - OK, just you'll go bankrupt". Holder can sue over voter ID but not proscecute voter intimidation. "Get over it" - what - my fear of where Obama's road seems to be heading??? Message to Putin re nuclear bomb treaty "Wait until I'm reelected then I"ll have more flexibility" - to do what? The list could go on...

Seems to me that we often over-look the fact that this is a democracy, not a dictatorship. In order to authorize, or put into law, any action the president may want, congress must approve it. Checks & Balances, as it was originally designed by the framers of the constitution.

So, the President, while in a very powerful position, can not make or change law directly. He can promote his vision, but he can not just issue a decree to make it law of the land. That is where congress steps in.

Good one! Didn't know about the doughnuts... maybe I should join you... I'd like to be a sloth, though... Oh, wait, my wife says I'm that already!

Get over it. Obama won. Congress needs to work to improve things, not try to block things at every turn. The country will still be here in four years, and should be in better shape than it is now. Great shape? Not until both parties recognize the structural changes in the world economy and develop strategies to deal with it.

If Romney had won, I'd be scared out of my wits of the mess I think he would have created. But I would have wanted Democratic Congress critters to work with the administration and try to improve proposed legislation and regulation, not block everything for the sake of making him a one-term president.

Exactly right - however where was congress when he added his Tsars? Made recess appointments when the Senate was in session? Allows or causes an EPA, among others, to ignore the portion of the law that says balance cost/benefit when regulating, has some (I forget which department) delay/hold-up, ignore action on drilling permits and then revoke leases because they are not being used because permit applications are not acted on. Fosters action of a Cabinet officer that results in contempt of congress. Orders the Secty of Defense to restructure the militatry in such way as it appears that our defense is being seriously weakened (Rumsfeldt at least wanted increased use of technology, which it seems this president doesn't) - remember your elementary school yard - no bully respects appeasing words - only when you CAN, WILL and DO, fight back does the bully leave you alone. Enough for now...
