I started with a T3i and went to the 80D. I love the camera and have nothing but good things to say about it except for low light situations which it doesn’t perform well in.

I will be shooting outdoors only in good (hopefully) light, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for replying to my post.

I love my 80D (upgraded from T5i). I don’t feel that your learning curve will be drastic. Make sure to read the manual and shoot, shoot, shoot. I also shoot with a 90D. Enjoy your camera and your images.

Thank you for replying Karen. I have received so many positive responses that I feel pretty confident in my choice.

There should be no learning curve moving between such similar cameras. Get that out of your head and the upgrade will go smoothly. Don’t be inventing problems for yourself. Keep calm and carry on.

Thanks for responding User ID. I'm looking forward to any learning processes. Being retired, I have a lot more time than money. Should be getting my camera Thur./tomorrow.

I have had an 80D for several years and love it. I bought it to update my T2i and never had any regret. I bought it for 2 reasons, for the fully articulated screen and better low light sensitivity. I not only got that, but the very appreciated touch screen which lets me change camera settings at a glance. I also got an increase from 18 to 24 megapixels as well as some new features. It takes great images as they all really do if the lens is good. I have since had no urge to update because of any shortcoming on its part.

I am not as active as many others on this site, but I have been very happy with my 80D. I have used Canon products for many years and this is my latest. The photos I was able to take on a NIGHT time tour of St. Mark's without any flash in Venice are absolutely remarkable! My daughter arranged the tour and you basically can't take photo's on day tours of this amazing edifice. My principal lens is a Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 for travel photos and it works well for me. I have been disappointed with the ability to connect and transfer photo's via internet on this camera. That may be my fault, I do not see others reporting this issue.

Thank you for your thoughts rb99. I have no use for Wifi, etc. I just want to be able to get some decent shots/stills, and maybe a video or two.

I love the 80d. Still use myt5i as second body. Very helpful in Africa to avoid lense changes. You might look at the 90d as well.

Having 2 cameras to avoid lens changes is very helpful on any continent.

I went from a 50D (The T2I's big brother to the 77D which is the 80D's lighter smaller brother, but with the same Sensor and Operating System. Both Jared "Fro" Polin and Tony Northrup have excellent step by step set-up and usage tutorials on You Tube. The touch screen and other controls will have you producing quality 24MPIX photos immediately. and with 2/3rds more resolution, you can crop more with the 80D. Great Choice!

I sell cameras and the 80D is a popular model. I have some waiting for the release of the 90D, but these people are not certain they will upgrade. Depends upon any increase in MP rating, and various other features. I have not seen a release date on the 90d as yet. The long and short of it is you can't go wrong with the 80d. This coming from a Nikon user.

I'm confused, or maybe it's not me. I've had my Canon EOS 90D for almost two years.

I too enjoy my 90D. It's a crop sensor camera that's great for cropping.

90D has a 32.5 megapixel rating. Widely available for at least 1-2 years.
