Pretty much an echo of above comments; thoroughly satisfied with my 80d. Always keep an 18-135 lens on for “walk around”. I think it’s hard to beat, for wildlife, with a 100-400 lens. I’m just a hobbyist but that’s my opinion.

I got my 80D the first day they were available in the USA. I was shooting with a 70D and when I read the specs on the 80D, I decided I had to get one so I had my Canon dealer order one for me. The three Canon cameras I use the most often now are my 80D, 90D and 5D mk IV. The 80D is an excellent camera.

Anyone using the 80d? If so, how are you liking it----or not? My T2i bit the dust after it was dropped. Now the shutter won't budge. I should be getting my new, to me, 80d tomorrow or the day after from B&H photo. I have a feeling this is going to be a drastic learning curve for me. Comments please.

There should be no learning curve moving between such similar cameras. Get that out of your head and the upgrade will go smoothly. Don’t be inventing problems for yourself. Keep calm and carry on.

I have had an 80D for several years and love it. I bought it to update my T2i and never had any regret. I bought it for 2 reasons, for the fully articulated screen and better low light sensitivity. I not only got that, but the very appreciated touch screen which lets me change camera settings at a glance. I also got an increase from 18 to 24 megapixels as well as some new features. It takes great images as they all really do if the lens is good. I have since had no urge to update because of any shortcoming on its part.

Except I don't have the 100-400, I have same setup and totally agree. At one point Consumers Report gave a higher score to the 80D over the 90D! You won't go wrong with it.

I 've using a Canon 70D for quite awhile now and love it. I went from Canon SL1 (small compact DSLR) to the 70D, I do see a great weight difference between the cameras, that my only negative.

I have the 80D and the 6DMkll. I use the 80D for my event work and it is wonderful. The wifi connection to my laptop is great because I print on site and it is wonderful.

I love the 80d. Still use myt5i as second body. Very helpful in Africa to avoid lense changes. You might look at the 90d as well.

I am not as active as many others on this site, but I have been very happy with my 80D. I have used Canon products for many years and this is my latest. The photos I was able to take on a NIGHT time tour of St. Mark's without any flash in Venice are absolutely remarkable! My daughter arranged the tour and you basically can't take photo's on day tours of this amazing edifice. My principal lens is a Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 for travel photos and it works well for me. I have been disappointed with the ability to connect and transfer photo's via internet on this camera. That may be my fault, I do not see others reporting this issue.

I stepped up from the 40D to the 80D couple of years ago. Can’t compare to other brands but loved the 40 and love the 80 even more. Lots of bells and whistles. But time and patience will bring it together.

I agree with other comments. The 80D is a fine choice! I went from a T5i to the 80D. Great camera and loved it enough to keep as a back up when I migrated to a 5DMkIV. I look forward to seeing your photos taken with the 80D. Best wishes.

I had an 80D before I upgraded to a full frame camera. I gave it to my daughter. It was great but I wanted the full frame. It will be easy to learn. The touch screen simplifies things and is fast to operate to change settings etc. You will love it and it takes great pictures.
Let me repeat, I found it to be a great camera.

Thanks for your input fantam. I think I may have made the right choice.

I took a 50 year photo break. In the. Past 18 months, I have re-educated myself and currently have a 7d2, 5d4, Sony rx10 mk4, 1dxii, a 90d, and a R6. I am currently learning the R6. The Canons are all similar, the Sony was very challenging. U-tube tutorials have helped the most, lots of them. Go thru them slowly, with the camera in front of you, starting and stopping and rewinding, and it will slowly start coming together. I use the 90d the most now, or the Sony. I do cattle pics, wildlife, landscapes, family, photos of opportunity around the ranch.

Thanks for responding Doc. U-tube is my go to choice for learning. The other one is trial and error.

I've had my 80D for 4 years and it has been an excellent camera and I've shot around 60,000 photos with it. I'm going to get a 90D soon, but will keep the 80D as a back-up.

Thanks for replying DJphoto. Every positive reply makes me feel good about my decision.

I have two 80D's and talked two of my friends into getting one. Short of going full-frame I believe this is the best bang for the buck out there, but I admit to having a Canon bias.

As others have said, the menu system is similar from one model to the next, and the menu system is really quite simple to learn for newbies as well.

Good luck with your new camera!

Thank you, and the best of luck to you too.
