This is the time of year when the bighorn sheep are in rut. The herd we witnessed contained about 15 females and 4 rams. Although several rams were challenging each other they actually collided only once (which shot opportunity I missed... doh!).

Nice shots! Have never seen or photographed them in anything but wild land. Strange to see them in "suburbia".

These photos were taken in Custer State Park where there is a huge field between the Wildlife Loop turn-off and the park offices. The buildings in the background are reservable overnight cabins.

Last batch (all female) I got was on Mount Evans - near / on the road and in a parking area. No structures around, but not that different when you think about it.

My thoughts also. Always thought they preferred to stay from the human population. I guess they adapt.

Saw them butt heads in the parking lot of the Black Hills Play House back in 1977. I didn‘t own a camera back then but it was an awesome sight….even better was that there were a lot fewer people in the area back then…had the drive through the „hills`‘ all to myself. No tourist and the locals had scene this stuff before. I was a new Air Force recruit at my first duty station out at Ellsworth AFB. I was out exploring the area……
