This is an informative post.
I have read several threads here and others like Next door about delivery of packages that have gone missing, or questioning it's delivery.
I have an issue with my address being the same street number as a neighbor across the street from us. We are both on a corner and many times, packages of mine have been delivered to their house. And sometimes it takes them several days to get them to me.
So I have invested into a security camera (I also have a full system) that I mounted above our front door. It's a battery operated so I don't need power. It's triggered by motion and starts recording.
I ordered something on-line once and the seller claimed the package was delivered by USPS. There was no delivery recorded in that time range which helped me prove my case and get a refund. It was a scam the whole time.
You can purchase these types of cameras on Amazon from like $50-$80. Worthwhile investment.
I just had a package delivered a few minutes ago. I get an alert on my cell phone and a video clip. The delivery services do not knock on doors anymore. With the cameras notice I can retrieve it before a porch pirate gets it.
I also have a MyQ garage door system. All of my Amazon orders get delivered and placed in my garage.
Attached are some clips from the camera and one of the camera.

Jerry, I have one of these Driveway Bing-Bong's like the Wyzecam, it does not have a camera but it is stellar at letting me know when anyone pulls up to my gate, leaves a package, comes through my gate, etc.. Well worth the low price, good solid range, a multitude of selectable sounds and songs. It took a day or two to find the perfect way to point it accross the drive and gate area, mostly to eliminate critter "hits", and false detects due to wind moving leaves and such, but works well now. It does have great range, and a set of cheap rechargeables runs the trigger/transmitter for months.
It’s a Zumimil (sp?)
Bought it on Amazon. They have several models.
Point is well taken but I sure would hate wacking my head on that camera.

Correct name of the camera is:

I know what you mean. I used to live in Redondo Beach in that trash hotel on the main street for $40 per week and all the drugs you can procure. If you live close to the beach, you have good reason to be concerned. Here's what I've had to do when I lived there. Take out a post office box. In addition to the small boxes on the wall, they have lockers for small and mid-sized parcels. There you will know that your parcels will be safe.
I'm 6' 1" and I clear it just fine.
My recent package by who else? FedEX was simply placed on the wrong porch 3 doors away. I did a short search based upon the photo that was messaged to me and found it. The Christmas decorations are a little more unique.
I had someones package delivered to me. I called FedEx and told them they delivered it to the wrong place and to come get it. She said, sorry, we can't redeliver that package. Say what???. She asked if I could deliver it. I said NO. She said somebody may or may not come to get it. 3 day's later no-one showed up. Felt sorry for the people and took it to them.
I had 2 FedEx deliveries by boneheads. One left the package next to our trash cans in the driveway. Too lazy to bring it up to the door. I barely even saw it.
Another bonehead put packages in the back of my pickup truck, another lazy one. Those weren't even mine.
All were captured on my video security system. I made copies and sent them to FedEx with a nice letter.
Good stuff here. An option for deliveries from Amazon is to use their drop box service. Various stores in a given community will host them, and you can select to have your package delivered there. A draw-back is that they can't handle larger boxes, but otherwise I very much like it and use it pretty frequently.
For UPS, you can arrange to have your package delivered to the local UPS store. For that there is a very small fee, but I consider it well worth it for something valuable.

That is a large looking camera above the door. I use Blink, they are small, wireless and run on 2 batteries, which last about a year or two before changing. They alert my phone and I can speak through the camera to whomever is in view, as well as hear them. I did a lot of research and these are the best bang for your buck. I got a three camera system for about $230. I can access them from anywhere in the world, as long as I have a wi-fi connection. They also have 1TB of free cloud storage and they accept a tiny micro SD card if you want the camera to record. Otherwise, it records to my iPhone. Plus, they are waterproof so you can even install them in a tree in your yard.
Lucian,
I looked into the blinks. Good specs.
The ZUMIMALL has all the same features for $79.
As for the size, our front door is 1 flight of steps up. I wanted something more visible to hopefully deter anyone thinking about coming up to Steele a package.
All battery operated cameras life is dependent on how much movement it detects which triggers it off. Aside from the mailman and us walking in and out the door, the battery lasts months. They have a version with a solar panel.
Also, battery operated cameras can not record in a continuous mode. So I bought a night owl system to record continuous activity in our driveway and cars.
