Epson Ink

Looking at printers on Amazon last night, an Epson had a large display farther down the page saying that it was designed to use Epson ink exclusively. That sounded like a warning not to use off-brands. However, when I looked up ink for that printer, there were lots of generics listed. I haven't been able to find that listing again. I looked at dozens of printers last night.

While I don't like the cost of Epson inks, I absolutely love my Atrisan 1430 printer! It can sit for months without being used, yet when I decide to print a picture, the results are outstanding! I tried an aftermarket ink cartridge once, it leaked.

Please tread lightly Jerry.
When I went shopping for my first Epson ink refills I noticed that even on the Epson website they list very specific refills for very specific Eco-Tank models.
Even for the Black Eco Tank refills! The photo printers also have specific Eco Tank inks.
At the time I purchased my refills the difference in price was very little even when compared with Amazon.
Also, at that time Epson had free shipping.
I'm pretty sure that this isn't a ruse to sell their brand of inks.
Remember, we have both printed thousands of trouble-free pages using Epson Eco Tank inks!?
I use ONLY Epson inks either from: https://epson.com/InkFinder
or https://www.costco.com/epson-t502-ecotank-ink-bottles-bkcym%2c-club-pack.product.100411661.html
As usual my best wishes and a . . .

Full disclosure: Amazon sez that their inks are "compatible", and with "Free Prime Shipping".
I guess the question is "Do you fee lucky?" https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=Epson+T502+EcoTank+Ink+Bottles&ref=nb_sb_noss

Right! I wonder why every printer (almost) needs different ink. It's got to be an added expense for the company.

I've had so-so luck with generic ink, no matter who sells it. I returned one to Amazon recently, but the ink from Atopolyjet seems to be working.

In earlier posts I've described my disgust with Epson. In cart machines 3rd party stuff works well but at the earlies opportunity Epson will look at what you're doing and shut it down remotely. I don't understand how they could do this with an ink tank printer if you're refilling from a bottle. Be careful as their goal is solely to sell you their expensive ink.

I'm surprised that their bottled ink is so "cheap," at about $65 for a full set. After printing almost 3,500 pages, the tanks are just over half full, and I have 3/4" of ink in the bottles.

I've looked at so many printers lately that if I keep it up, I'm afraid I'll turn into one...with NO ink available.

I had a high end Epson printer once and loved it, I was even using generic inks. Then all of sudden I got this message that if I clicked on it I could only use Epson ink. I had to be careful every time the printer told me I needed ink it would pop up again. One time in haste I clicked the mark and the printer would only accept Epson ink. I gave it away and went back to Canon.

Dave, I made the mistake of updating my firmware and that was the end of my Epson days. I gave it to a crab fisherman who may have used it for an anchor.

I was happy with my 1430 until it quit. Went on line looking for replacement-Epson indicated they no longer supported the 1430; looked for used; price of used was nearly 3 times what I paid for mine when new. I found that with a few minor modifications tshirts could be printed, demand thus driving up the price.
