I am thinking of buying this lens and would appreciate your opinions. I have read the reviews and done comparisons but now I would like some real feedback! I would use it for street and landscape.

Though you haven't stated on which camera you intend to use it, I'm not one that favors third-party lenses. I have a 70~300 and do a lot of landscapes and some street photography. That is not a lens I use for either.

I have used a Tamron 75-300 lens for many years. If you go to my topics page, virtually all of my close ups and butterflies are from this lens. I have been very happy with Tamron and my Canon Cameras. And the cost is a big factor. That and a 6 year warranty.

Thank you. I wanted something for that little extra reach, not heavy, and that would not break the bank. This lens seems to fit all the criteria.

Happy Holidays!

Thank you for your reply. I have a Sony A711r. All the Sony lenses were heavier and more expensive. Since I am not using it professionally, it sounded like it would meet my criteria.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the info. I had two friends both named Lila when I was young but haven't come across any others and that was a long time ago!

I have been using the 70-300 on my Sony a7RIV for a year and really enjoy using it. I'm into urban, architectural and landscape photography and it suits my needs. I use it in conjunction with my Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 and they are a great combo.

I've had rhe Tamron 70-300 VC DI in Nikon mount for about 8 years..Reviews at that time were quite vavorable and most thought is was on par with the Nikon version but less cost of course! I have not used it much in the last 6 years since I purchased My nikon D500 along with a Tamron 150-600mmG2. BUT that said, I really did like the results I got from that 70-300 Tamron!!

I purchased a Tamron 70-300 a few yrs. ago for my Sony A77. I purchased it on Ebay for $50. Lens arrived in original packaging and from all appearances had never been put on a camera. I use in for nature and close-ups and it does a superb job. Images at all focal lenths are extremely sharp.

I am on my second Tamron 7-300 VC USD { I dropped the 1st one & still have if anyone needs one for parts }
That being said, I have used this Tamron lens on a Canon T3i and now on my Canon 80D.

Like others have stated, I use this lens for close ups. Although the minimum focal distance is approximately 7'.
Landscape, Race cars, close up, and even with macro by reversing a FD 50 F1.4 on front of the 70-300. I have been very happy with image quality as an amateur + level photographer.

I invested in a B&W polarizer which is 62mm. Because I own 1ea 24mm pancake and 1ea 40mm pancake plus the a Canon 18-55 F3.5 STM. I just bought 2 step down adapters to fit those lens. Instead of buying lower quality polarizers.

A good bang for the buck

I have (and use) my Tamron 70-300 (for Nikon) regularly. I find it to be a reasonably sharp lens. I don't know how it will work for street photography as it is a big lens. From what I understand, you want a less conspicuous lens for street photography. I have used it for portrait work (usually in the 200mm range) because it lets me stay back from the subject (giving them a decent level of comfort). I primarily use it for landscapes in order to isolate sections of the landscape I want.

Thanks so much for this info. So far the comments have been favorable and I will also use it for landscape, limited street and architecture and some nature.
