My Sony a99ii seems to prefer InfoLithium batteries (I think it even says to use them in the manual and it does specifically on the dual battery grip, but they're are about the most expensive to get (at least the OEM ones are, especially if new and I'm not sure I'd want a used battery). E-bay has only Sony and Kastar listed on their page. Anyone have good or bad experiences with the off-brand?
I suggest not buying used batteries, have done it, and they work, but can be unpredictable in terms of time of use available. I have used Kastar in my D3, D7200, and D750. One of two I bought for the D3 wasn't good, wouldn't recharge, the second is fine. I have had consistent good luck for many years with Wasabi and Watson, and would put them ahead of my Kastar experience, though the one that works, works well.
I have used Kastar batteries (purchased new from Amazon) in both my A-mount and E-mount Sony bodies since 2018. I've had no problems or complaints, and found no appreciable difference between their aftermarket products and the Sony branded batteries that came with the cameras.

I found the batteries on a separate search at B&H, but I can't find a spare battery tray anywhere I look, B&H, Ebay, wherever. Maybe nobody makes them anymore. It would just make it a little more convenient to change out a tray instead of taking the batteries out and putting new ones in their place...OK, maybe I'm just lazy.

Just got an e-mail from Dan W at B&H, He said Vello doesn't sell spare trays for it's grips. I guess I'll have to change the batteries separately. I wasn't expecting such a quick response. It's 8:41 PM in NYC!

I've never had any problems with the Kastar batteries I use with the various brands of cameras I have.

I have used off brand batteries for the last 8 years in my Canon 7d. No problems. They work as well as the Canon original. Maybe they take a little longer to fully charge or don't quite hold the charge as long,But at $15 apiece they are definitely worth the price
Have used Kastar batteries in my cameras with no problem.

If you can find a used grip cheap enough you can triage the holder and keep the tray. I've done that with other products where I wanted a spare part that makes use more convenient, but is not sold separately.

Never had a problem with any Kastar battery I have used.
I bought a couple of them about 7 years ago. They both finally died (no longer hold a charge) this year. Not bad, although I have Nikon batteries from 10 years ago that are still going strong.
