Problem with Nikon D7100 shutter

Depress the shutter release to take a pic and things go as they should, but have to press the shutter release a second time to finish taking the shot. The camera does take the shot. Just does not cycle as it should. Tried the camera in Live View mode; there it did not take the shot at all. Shifted to Live View Movie mode and it will take a movie with no apparent challenges. Was wondering if anyone out there has had to have the shutter replaced by Nikon and how much that cost? This D7100 is 7 to 8 years old, has been on Nikon holiday twice to AZ and six times to OR/WA in the Pac NW, the last three times as a back up to a D850. D7100 has less than 17k shutter actuations so is barely broken in.

Press and press again sounds like the setting for sensor cleaning. Don't see how it could be that. if you don't have a lot of custom settings you might try two button reset to factory spec. Got to be frustrating.

Depress the shutter release to take a pic and thin... (show quote)

I have and still use my D7100 with a macro lens. Your issue could be related to your Mode Dial being set
to ' Mup' Mode - Mirror-up mode. This mode takes two pushes of the shutter to take a shot. First push moves
to mirror-up, second push takes the shot. If you do not push the shutter the second time the camera will take
the shot after about 30 seconds. The 'Mup' setting on the Mode Dial is next to the Self-Timer setting.

Not the Mirror up mode. Camera in S or Q mode and nothing happens when I press the shutter release. Calling Nikon in the morning.
