I highly recommend snorkeling with hippos on your nest safari!

Seriously, we were laying flat on the ground at the waters edge. I will say this is the one time I was slightly nervous as just as we walked up about 5 very large crocs headed into the water. Yes, they were just where we were about to lay down! We all ask, and they said as long as we are a few feet from the waters edge the crocs will not come out of the water. I guess they were right, I was not eaten by a crocodile.

Absolutely, it is said that Hippos kill more humans each year than any other African animal.

Gruesome thought, getting mauled by a mad hippo.

Fabulous set, Beth! Did your tour have someone to help you stand after laying down? (LOL)

Hippos are irritable and fast, fast, fast. Crocs have a formidable record of people eating as well. They have been seen coming out of the water like a missile and grabbing even the fastest antelopes. More adventure than I care for, even with a heavy rifle in hand. Braver folks than I! The usual excellent photos in any case.

OMG those are fantastic photos, especially 1, 2, & 3. You were really down low for those. I should think an element of danger was in the air. Nicely done. I hear they can run very fast on land should they wish to do so.

Wow, fantastic photos indeed. How close to the Hippos were you? Your shots are excellent.
I don't think I could stay calm and lay flat by the Crocs and Hippos. I'd have trouble getting up again.
thanks for sharing these
