I have a quandary. I have a Sony A7R2 with the 24-70mm f4. Problem is that since Covid I am not able to afford much else in glass. I was thinking that if I sell these, I can buy an a6000, 16-70mm f4, the Sony 10-18mm, and the 55-110mm. I DO have the Laea4 adapter. Maybe some A mount glass for wide angle? But then I'm getting really big as far as weight. I just don't know if I'll be disappointed with IQ, dynamic range and overall picture quality going back to the a6000. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Since you have the la ea4 adapter consider looking for some Minolta Maxxum lenses.
Af and Ae will work quite well with these.

Any suggestions for a little wide angle zoom that won't break the bank?

Here's a comprehensive list of lenses for the A7R series. You should be able to find an e-mount lens that works for you, used, at an affordable price. Granted that there is a lot of excellent Minolta glass available for a song, I was never happy with the AF using a-mount glass and an adapter.

I know! That's why I am considering the a6000 with those lenses. Aps-c seems to have good stabilized glass at more affordable prices but I would be giving up full frame. A conundrum!

All those alternatives hit me as off the wall. Detailing the reasons why would make a looooong post ... so no details.

If you’re absolutely sold on getting a fascinating optic, get an affordable fully manual ultra wide prime. They are excellent optically, but not automated. You can enjoy an ultra wide without AF. The DoF is tremendous.

If you might wanna explore low light scenes, the 28/2.0 native lens is on clearance for ~ $250.

Check out Tamron Sony E-mounts 20mm, 24mm or 35mm for under $300.00 with $50.00 Rebates going on. Very light! Great lenses! Keep the the Sony A7R II!

I also have the Sony 7 Rii. Great camera - except for battery life!! I’d keep what you have and perhaps look for another lens. I too have the same adapter as you have but my Tamron 70-200 will not auto focus. So be careful what you look for

Chasing hardware will lead to disappointment unless you can afford the very best and even then the improvement will be minor compared to becoming proficient with a good photo editor...Capture One for Sony comes to mind.

For telephoto, I have the Sigma 70-300mm OS F4-5.6. Pretty good lens. Works perfectly with the adapter. Cost is the issue right now. I don't have a LOT to spend on more glass, which was why I was considering selling it in order to afford the better glass on the smaller sensor. From what I see the 16-70 f4 Sony/Zeiss.is possibly better than the 24-70mm f4 and the 10-18mm f4 looks very good. But what am losing on the camera end?

I'm aware. Just trying to see my best options with what I have. Thanks!
