There's a report on water quality in the Hudson Valley. Naturally, it's not good. Arsenic, chloroform, haloacetic acids, and radium come with every glass of water - no extra charge!

I suspect that there is no pure water in the country. We have well water here, and I wouldn't dare have it tested.

Terrible. Hope no one is swimming in it let alone boating in those waters.

Jerry, we have terrible tasting water in our little hamlet. A few years ago I has a whole-house water filter. It works great. Easy to replace the cartridge albeit a little expensive; $150 every 6 or more months*. The water really tastes great now and I feel that most of the impurities are removed.
*When I had it installed, I made a mistake by having the filter connected to “everything” including outside sprinklers, and an outdoor shower. In retrospect, I would have been more selective as to which water lines it would be hooked up to. This could probably save me at least one filter per year.

If you’re interested, just say so here and I will tell you what system I am using, but I know that if you are interested you’ll be doing the hard research.

Jerry, we have terrible tasting water in our littl... (show quote)

When we were camping, I noticed a lot of trailers using two 10" filters hooked up the the water inlet. I did that for our trailer, and now I have two of them in the house. They're not expensive, and they're easy to change. In addition, we have a couple of Brita pitchers.

I have a summer home in Maggie Valley, NC. The water flowing out of the mountains is as pure as natural water can be. Clear, cold, and refreshing.

I have been drinking well water for over 50 years now, first well 165' deep water tased fine , second well much closer to the city 305' deep still great taste but a lot of lime, a whole house filter took care of that, Now I don't know how deep my well is but it is within 75' of Big River about 2 mile from its head waters, good taste!!! no filters!!!
Oh and the last two wells were in the Lead belt.
So I'M guessing they will have on my head stone "The Water killed him" or was it the fried food?

Really? Have you tested it? Not to be a Kiljoy, but contamination is all around us.

I've experienced sulphur water, and I don't like it. Fortunately, our water is stink-free.

This is odd, the computer thinks I should capitalize "sulphur."

We have a spring fed well and have the water tested every few years. It's clean with no additives and tastes wonderful too!
