Hi Brenda,
I see that you joined Ugly Hedgehog earlier today, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I would not feel comfortable engaging in a PayPal transaction with a person with such a short history on the forum. Thank you for your interest.

I understand. If it helps I’ve been reading/following the hedgehog for at least two years but didn’t join until I saw your post for the lens (I’ve been searching for this lens in good used condition and from following UHH, was sure I could trust you instead of a total stranger. Is there any other method you’d be comfortable receiving payment from me?

Brenda,
First let me explain the reason for my concern. When a seller sells on eBay he or she is protected by PayPal's seller protection policy. The policy protects the seller from unwarranted charge backs, false claims of non-delivery and a few other situations. PayPal does not offer the same protection to non eBay sellers with the exception of sales by PayPal business account holders. Of course UHH does not provide buyer or seller protection. Through the years I have sold several items via the hog, most payments were through PayPal and some by buyers preference for certified/bank checks. I never suggest that method of payment unless a buyer has virtually no UHH history or feedback. Some buyers prefer that method but I don't like putting anybody in that position.

So the only options I see in this case is certified or bank check allowing time for it to clear or Zelle. I have never used Zelle, my wife has. It is very fast but it does not offer any protection for the buyer but certified/bank checks don't either. If you wish to go that direction that is fine. Please let me know either way.

Blackhound, thank you for the explanation. I thought PayPal protected both parties, now I understand. I’ll check out zelle and setup an account. Since you are member of hedgehog, I do feel I can trust you.

Many thanks!

Blackhound, I set up account with Zelle and am ready when you are. I appreciate your time and patience with me.

I’m very excited. This spring, I’m going to Yellowstone and the Tetons with Backcountry Journeys for a photo workshop. I have a canon 70-300 lens but thought this sigma lens would be a perfect addition for wildlife. I’m a beginner/novice and can’t wait to work with this lens!

Hello! I’m also new but have completed one successful deal so far. I’m returning to the hobby, so I started with a camera body. Now, I need glass. I’m honestly interested in all three, but I know Brenda was first for the sigma. So, I’d like the nifty fifty and the 17-40. I have Zelle. Will be shipped to Calhoun, Ga 30701.

Please let me know if there’s anything I can provide further in order to help prove my validity.

Thanks for your consideration,
Russell

Hi Brenda,

I am set up with Zelle. My email address is theveloman@verizon.net. I can ship either by UPS or USPS Priority Mail. I prefer the latter, it is usually faster but you choose. It will be insured and require an adult signature upon delivery. Does that work for you?

My wife and I visited the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone a couple of years ago. We have visited most of the national parks but this is my favorite when it comes to photography. We usually travel on our own which takes a lot of research and planning. I would prefer one of the big tour companies like Backcountry but their dates never seem align with the availability of our dog sitter.

Hi Russell,

It looks like Brenda will be purchasing the Sigma lens but the 17-40L and the 50 1.8 are available. I would prefer to ship via USPS Priority Mail because it is usually faster but I can ship via UPS. It will be insured and require an adult's signature upon delivery. Does that work for you?

I will need your full address.

My Zelle account can accessed through my email address, theveloman@verizon.net .

God morning John! I just sent $565 to you via zelle. Would you confirm receipt for safety sake?

A 100 years ago, I worked at Lake Lodge in Yellowstone during summers my college years. It was some of the best times of my life and I’m so excited to go back. This will be my first trip with any photo group and I hope to have some photos that are good enough to post with UHH!

Again, I appreciate your patience and kindness.

Regards,
Brenda
