Tamron G2 150-600 Zooming issue

I bought a new Tamron G2 150-600 zoom lens about six months ago and have used it on approximately two dozen photo shoots. Initially, zooming was just right-not too loose and not too tight. Just right. Lately however it has become very tight and difficult to extend or retract the lens. I checked the user manual for troubleshooting but no luck. Also I am unaware of any trauma to the lens. I'm new to zoom lenses so this may be a common problem but I am stumped. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Bruce

I'd start by calling or e-mailing Tamron. Have found their customer support and repair service first rate. Most likely is that some small foreign body has gotten into the mechanism.

Hi Bruce, do you realise that if you slide the Zoom ring away from you on this lens it locks the Zoom at any setting. Could that be your problem? Just a thought. Tamron service in the UK are excellent so hope you get it sorted, whatever the cause.

I would try to move zoom lock a few times to see if it frees it up. If you sen it back send camera and have them calibrate it at same time, one time free service

Another thing, the weather is colder and that may be contributing. I have a gimbal head that is fluid dampened and when it gets cold I have to "work" it a bit in all dimensions to loosen it up.

Zoom is easy to lock accidentally. Unlock it and it will be fine.

Don't know about that lens but my Nikon zoom has a zoom lock switch. I have forgotten a time or two that it was locked. If you have forced your lens to zoom with the lock engaged you may have damaged something.

If you bought your lens new, it has a 6 year warranty. Thank goodness for this as this lens is not built to the same tolerances as a OEM lens. So there is more chance of your problem occurring. Tamron has a very good customer service and I am sure they will take good care of you.
If you shoot Nikon please consider their 200-500 5.6 lens, it has outstanding construction and will deliver outstanding images throughout it's zoom range.

I have noticed in hot weather the zoom may be a LITTLE tighter and a LITTLE looser in cold weather. Think this maybe due rubber rings expanding an contracting.

I had a similar issue when I first used this lens. As pointed out above, the zoom ring was moved. It slides back and forth. Not enough to totally lock the lens, but enough to make it harder to turn. Make sure it is pulled all the way back. If there is a white line showing beneath the bottom of the zoom ring, pull the ring backwards so that line is no longer visible. Save yourself the hassle of a repair ticket and also just ignore the fan boys who claim to solve every issue by insisting you buy what THEY shoot with. Now if there were willing to buy it for you, don't turn them down. Otherwise, just nod and smile and run what you brung. It's not a bad lens. I have some very expensive big glass, but sometimes the Tamron is all I need in my bag.

I should add that the zoom ring lock is a handy feature. The lock switch only works when the lens is fully retracted. The sliding zoom ring allows you to eliminate lens creep at any focal length.

Thank you, thank you. I was having this problem the last week or so and when the question was posted I was following waiting for a good answer. Sure enough, when I checked, the white line was showing. Problem solved thanks to UHH.
