Fallen foliage

With the fall comes the fall foliage images - the gorgeous trees, mountains and landscapes decked out in their coats of many colors...

But what about the fallen foliage, still beautiful but soon to be destroyed and forgotten? When I raked up the maple leaves in our back yard and piled them up I thought it might be interesting to show the trees and brush as barren and stark, with the fallen leaves still the brightest and most colorful part of the image. I used selective color processing on the leaves, but didn't do a full b&w on the rest of the image, to preserve just a vestige of the color before the winter robs the landscape of all but white. Comments and input most welcome, and download offers the best look...

Yeah, what about that noble fallen foliage, and its coats of many colors? Eh??? Two days worth of raking and mulching and getting the remainder of those multi-hued (in their tones of yellow, orange, and gold) ready for the landfill translates into me knowing I'll 'remember' it tomorrow, when my back and shoulders (and maybe my toenails, too!) bring to mind the toil they've tolled upon me. And tell me there'll be plenty more to rake in upcoming days, too, before --as you oh-so-poetically put it-- "the winter robs the landscape of all but white" (when the rake will be replaced by the shovel, I suppose, and the drudgery of scraping the white away so's I can get to my Jeep and more brushing off of the white will ensue, but let's not go there quite yet).

Ah, but we're talking photographs here, not our [my] piddling pains of season and age. So let's talk photos, eh? And more specifically, let's talk about the photo you've posted, shall we? Let me begin....

The image you've posted, Monsieur Strat, isn't half as awful as it is a Memory Of Things To Come. Which, I suppose, is a way of saying its "evocative" if only in some past and future tense. At least I'm evoked by it, which by some standards must mean that it is truly an Arteestic Photoglyph, and as such is consequently wall worthy-esque, pretty much as is. Unless, however, you decide to elevate this otherwise fine pic to the greater glory of Arteest-dom by whacking it with an Artsy plug-in or something. Or not. Your choice, Tommy.

Good writing, too.
