Did they tell you why? If not, contact them and ask.

They will put a hold on your payment until the buyer recieves the article and has a couple days to inspect it.

Depends on the buyer. He/she has total control of the funds until you appeal. To wit: I sold a part to a guy in Germany. His delivery address was in Tennessee, a forwarding outfit. Even though the part was delivered to the forwarder, he, being a jerk, stopped payment since delivery to Germany was taking a while. I appealed and after a few weeks got my money. Needless to say, I've blocked that buyer.

The buyer might have requested it, I don't know PayPal was no help just stating that was their policy. I have sold things in the past and this has never happened. I guess they are more concerned with larger sellers. The buyer and I worked it out he paid with Zelle and I didn't have to pay a fee so I am pleased. Thanks for the help.

I'm the guy buying the item from edfgrf1951. We both have dealt with PayPal before and never had this problem. My guess is the PayPal is changing its business model from dealing with everyone including small once or twice a year sellers to focus more on those who sell a lot of items. That way they can more closely monitor seller/buyer satisfaction. They may well have had a lot of loses due to fraud. That's OK, but they need to publish this up front and not force guys like us to wait online for customer service to find out. My advice to future UHH buyers/sellers is to use Zelle. Edfgrf1951 used Zelle with his credit union to request the money from me, I then sent it to him and he received it in minutes.

Be very careful...I frequently (once a month or so) get emails telling me PAYPAL has put a hold on my money because of a problem with my accout. This is a pfishing scam.

These PayPal people have lately been relentlessly soliciting me to buy their product. Never mind that I do not want or need their product. Never mind that I have let them know that through their so called "do not subscribe" mode. Never mind that they seem to have a way of making it hard for me to delete their solicitations. It just keeps coming . . . and how do I stop it?

Seems like the best thing to do is just delete their e-mails when they arrive.

I have bought from ebay for many years and have never had a problem with them. To my understanding, they will with hold payment to the seller for two weeks to make sure that purchase is acceptable to you, I have experienced this a couple of times in the past and my money
was put back into my account. Ebay has been great for me.

You should have a "block sender" for your email company. I do and don't bother 'unscuscribe' anymore.

This is my impression, too. I bought and sold LOTS of stuff, mostly photo gear, on ebay for many years, always as an individual adjusting his own personal kit. I took lots of photos and gave long detailed descriptions, and usually sold with no returns allowed. Sold all my Leica, Nikon and Hasselblad gear that way when I went digital 15-20 years ago.

But a couple of years ago, when I decided to downsize from full frame Nikon to Micro 4/3, I learned that returns are now required for any reason or for no reason. I had to pay to take back a nearly new 50mm/1.4 when the buyer said the aperture ring wouldn't turn - duh, it was locked in the Auto position, and worked perfectly when unlocked, but it didn't matter. PayPal said I could authorize the return within 2 days or they would do it and charge my account. They got notice of the return and emailed to say I could authorize the refund within 2 days or they would do it and charge my account. I saw no way to stop the process if the product had been damaged or had missing parts. And of course if I had sold a product as-new in a sealed box, when I got it back it was now open and used. Too bad.

Best I can tell, the buyer always wins, now. If you're in business you can build that kind of program into your prices, but when you're trying to liquidate personal stuff it's no longer that attractive. I have never sold anything on ebay since that experience, and don't plan to in the future.
