Hi folks. I have a Tamron 70-300mm lens with macro switch option from 180mm to 300mm. I LOVE this lens, use it on my Nikon d3300 and get consistently sharp photos. The one hitch is that occasionally the macro switch does not want to click back to standard. I keep it within the 180-300 range and I don't force it. Eventually it easily clicks back to standard. Is there something I'm not doing? I've had the lens for several years. It's had this glitch for a long time. It's just occasional, not always. Wondering if I'm doing something wrong? Any suggestions? Thank you!!
I have that same lens, maybe an older model. My first/only thought is make sure that the focus ring is not still in the macro range. On my lens the zoom range has a gold bar from 180-300, you have to be in that range to switch to macro. Similarly the focus ring has a gold bar from 095-1.5 (M) 3.1-4.9 (Ft.). If the focus ring is within that gold bar range you can't switch to NORMAL.
Yes, it has to be zoomed back to the macro area to switch back. I've used this lens for many years.
Thanks for the question, and the answers. I've had the same problem but I don't use macro very often so I would just fiddle with it until it switched back without ever figuring out what the problem was.
