We left Mt. Crested Butte for Redstone the next morning and found ourselves just in time to watch the sun rise on Beckwith Mountain while the moon was setting. Filtered light on the aspen groves along Kebler Pass was magical and when we returned to Lost Lake, the hanging clouds from two days earlier were gone. From McClure Pass we dropped down into the the Crystal River Valley and ended up in Carbondale for dinner and a chance to photograph Mt. Sopras late in the afternoon.
While my buddy went up to Crystal Mill mid-afternoon with a local friend, I stayed in Marble and had an afternoon siesta, since I had photographed the mill several years earlier. Sam shared with me how the changes at Crystal Mill were not for the better as it has been turned into a cash cow and the bushes at the viewpoint from the road were sadly overgrown. Guess that is the owner's way of incentivizing people to either pay $50 to climb down the bank or $200 to shoot from down at the cascade. I felt really bad for Sam because the Mill was the main attraction for him on this trip.

Thanks so much, Dodie--that is Lost Lake in picture #3.
So glad you are following this trip, Bill--I appreciate the supportive thumbs-up!
Thanks, NMGal--it's fun experiencing the trip all over again as I edit the RAW captures.
Great shots one and all Diane, I particularly enjoyed the tranquil scenes of #s3 and 6.

Water always draws me in--whether it's the reflections or merely the sounds of rushing water. It sustains life as well as the soul.
Great pics! Is there any way you can post one of Sam’s pics of Crystal Mill? I am curious to see how much it has changed since I was there in 2016. It is on my list of places to visit again but maybe that time has passed.
Nice--enjoyed seeing all of these.
Nice photos. $200 =included dinner & a room for the night? Price gouging!
