After reading here about adobe updates . I brought my main computer out of sleep mode and adobe cloud opened with updates for camera raw , lightroom classic , PS 21 , PS 22 . I installed all but the update for PS 21 which it removed . I restarted my computer and opened PS 22 . I watched two videos on youtube on the new things in PS . The one thing I don't like is when I have a photo opened in PS , and I click save as to save it to another folder , it makes me every time now choose the format I want to save it as if I'm not saving it as a Photoshop PSD PDD PSDT. Before it would save as the format is already . For sample , photo is opened as a jpeg . Save as would save as a jpeg unless you changed the selection . I think this is a bunch of BS . I work on a lot of photos and I don't want to have to change from Photoshop each time to save as . Why they changed this is beyond me . Anyone know how to change that back the way it was ? I looked thru Preferences and nothing helped I tried .

Look in Edit>Preferences>File Handling. There is a Legacy check box that might fix your "bunch of BS". There were changes a version or two ago. I think it was to improve a "non destructive" workflow.

I use PS and Bridge. In the past I have never had any issues with updates. After this one
however, Bridge is still considering PS 21 the default and does not recognize the new PS. I made it usable by reverting to the previous version but does anyone know how to reset the default?

Adobe has updated Photoshop and Lightroom today. Has anyone jumped in yet? Likes? Dislikes? Waiting to see if it breaks somebody else's computer first?

I went ahead and installed the updates. The most noteworthy enhancement in Photoshop is the improved Object Selection Tool, that lets you hover over an image and make a selection. According to Adobe, more detail is preserved at the edges. There are also 3 new Neural Filters, and several existing Neural Filters were improved. Several of the Neural Filters should prove useful to me.

Lightroom Classic changes were more impressive - major improvements in selection and masking, and the introduction of a form of layers. You can select the sky, select the subject, and use one selection to help mask another. These will be very useful.

No problems to date with plugins or other functions.

Over-all, very impressive Lightroom changes. I was hoping for a little more in Photoshop.

I wonder if we will see a change to Adobe’s sales model? They are gradually bringing the features that in the past meant you had to go to PhotoShop to use. This is the big one for me. No other app has the great selection tools that only PhotoShop had before yesterday and in Lightroom they are more powerful and easier to use. That’s not to say PhotoShop didn’t get some new features mainly in the neural filters with a much better colorization filter, a weird landscape foreground replacement and others. I’m on a M1 Mac Mini and just moved to Monterey yesterday so its hard to tell which is responsible but Lightroom and PhotoShop are even more snappy. Btw the updates yesterday made them PhotoShop and Lightroom 2022 which meant they had to be revalidated to work.

The comment about Adobe Max is important with lots of great content for Free! And most of it is available on demand for a year!

I think you may need to update Bridge too. My new Bridge 2022 defaults to my new Photoshop 2022 on Windows 10.

So they showed up in your Actions after the new install, Correct?

Your question was answered in the affirmative. Why do you keep asking.

RAN THE UPDATE last night on PS to PHOTOSHOP 23.0.0. Made sure that the box SAVE PREFS was checked. Updater ran quickly and absolutely no issues or problems. Running OS BIG SUR11.6.1 and no glitches at all. Checked through all my prefs and no changes. Good to go, but always a good idea to RESTART after a big update/upgrade.

Ran the updater on BRIDGE as well. Had to reset/reconfigure the window to what I like, but that was it.
Both PS and BRIDGE open faster, which is always nice.

I don't use LIGHTROOM so can't comment on that.

"Measure Twice, Cut Once". I just wanted to be sure before I did the install.

Just started playing with the tools in LR and all I can say is “Wow!” Game changing. The Select Subject and Select Sky tools are amazing. The ability to invert these is really nice too. I also love how you can create complex masks using multiple masking tools. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like these new mask tools, but now that I’ve played with them a little I’m really excited about the possibilities.
