Maybe the Beemers have improved their production quality. Years ago I rode with a friend who was very proud of his new Beemer. I thought that the fit and finish was very inferior to that of my Honda Accord.
I ran one of that era down to the tire shop for someone who employed me years back. 110miles on it & drove like it floated on air. Pretty peppy too. All this coming from a guy who has almost always owned & driven pick ups. Nice capture.
Thanks much Jack for the 2 thumbs up. vz

Brilliant car Jerry!
By the way... you may already know, but yesterday a
Honda won the F1 GP at Circuit Of The Americas.

Just joking all you Bayerische Motoren Werke fans.
I had a 2002 back in the day... and it was sensational transport.

That is really interesting - I heard it used in the old days to describe a small but powerful pocket pistol. I searched the term and there must be more than 20 broadly varying definitions. Probably gave up too soon, found neither a pill or a pistol, but all sorts of amazing other stuff, including cars and motorcycles. Who knew!

I’ve owned 8 Jags over the years - current one in my avatar - but my second choice would always be a beemer. I almost bought a 2002 tii once and still regret passing it up. Those complaining about the cost of sports cars are doomed to driving boring cars.
Nothing boring about my son's 585 hp ZL1 Camaro convertible, it will whop any Jaguar on the road and have fun doing it.
Much thanks LBOYD for the positive emojis. vz
I had that car. Same color, BMW 318i If I remember correctly. My front air dam was black and extended down quite a bit farther. It was a magnet for hitting parking blocks and going up curbs into driveways. YES, it was a blast to drive as were all 3-series BMW's before they got all bloated with electronics, air bags and cup holders. And, YES, parts, maintenance and repair were breathtakingly expensive.

I know of a 1988 Jag with 750 hp and 611 lb⋅ft of torque.
It weighs 1947 pounds with liquids.

Yes, Abo, but my son's Camaro is factory stock, not a one off home built hotrod.

He may have been talking about the Jaguar XJ220 which was announced in 1988, but wasn't first delivered until 1992.
It was originally supposed to have a V-12 engine with 650 horses and a planned top speed of 220mph, thus the model number.
However, when it was delivered in 1992 it had a twin turbo V-6, due to emmisions requirements and 542 hp. Guiness had it listed as the fastest production car in the world at 217.3 mph for several years in the late 90s until the McLaren F1 achieved a top speed of 240 mph.
A stock Camaro would not enjoy a run against an XJ220. That matchup would be unlikely to happen as only 281 of the jags were built and sold mainly to overseas customers. The originally designed V-12 was not going to be sold in the US as it could not be made street legal.
