You're not lost, Bill. You're just looking for a destination and enjoying the "scenery" along the way.

I spent a weekend in Carthage, Mo. I did not realize that there is a Vietnamese seminary in Carthage. It supplies priest to Vietnamese communities around the country. They have a festival once a year Marian Days that draws as many as 120,000 people. There is a beautiful prayer garden at the seminary. Not sure if it is worth a trip, but if you are in the area you should stop by and visit. Carthage is a town of about 14,000 people.

p.5 Now that's different. Very interesting.

I've also been trying to practice photoshop - separating objects from backgrounds, editing each layer, using filters and re-combining. I know this is easy for many of you, but it still isn't "automatic" for me.

A Cemetery gate - original
A Cemetery gate - original...

I wanted to obscure the background (but still have it recognizable as a cemetery), bring out gate details and give the image a more vintage look in keeping with the age of the cemetery.

There is no challenge topic for "No Host, Just Post" challenges. They are an opportunity, sort of like Free Sundays, to show favorites, post something you might be working on or just some of your recent works. When there are openings in the calendar the dates are left open for this activity. Lesley and I will be checking in, but neither of us may be commenting as much as if we were the host. Commenting is optional for participants too.

So, what have you been working on? All 4 of my editing programs have recently updated and I am trying to learn some of the new features. ON1 program has a new feature I'm trying to perfect - sky swap. The intelligent software pretty accurately identifies the sky and masks it out. There are numerous skies from which to choose depending on what suits your image and various sliders and adjustments to make it look natural. Here is one example.

Thanks Pat for getting this up and running! Great job on the image! I will post a couple of pics from up north.

Good job! I like the texture effect it has given. :-)

Pat I admire your dedication to learning PS. I literally hate it and refuse to try any more. Just too complicated for me!!

Had to send in 5 pictures to the Hamilton Camera Club for a competition. I am in the "intermediate" class the pictures are judged out of 30 points. I have to get 23 points or above to get an Honorable mention (HM) and for it to count towards moving up to the next level and you need 10 HM's to move up. The subject for this challenge was "Silhouette". But we can also put other photos into the different categories. Here are my entries. (#3 - the longhorn please - click on download to see the proper colors).
I won't get the results for several weeks. Fingers crossed that at least one gets an HM.

The photo of the colt is also entered in the "Standardbred Canada" calendar competition. I was honored to have been chosen twice before. Fingers crossed that this one is chosen for the 2022 calendar.

That is a pretty trippy transformation!

I am digitizing my collection of film negatives from the 1960s, '70s, and later. These are a few of many casual senior portraits I made for friends and their parents.

Wonderful! Nicely done!

I sky swapped another. One effect is the option for "reflection". I used that feature here to lightly reflect the sunrise colors on the lighthouse.
