No. I presently have two versions of Elements on my computer with no problem or conflict at all. I have both 2015 & 2020 versions and can bring either one up at will.
God Bless,

What have you noticed as better, whether entirely new or just improved? Asked as a serious question looking for a few bullet points based on your experience, ref 15 vs 20.

There are several worthwhile improvements in '20' over '15 that cause me to use 20 most of the time. Initially, I left vs. 15 on board as a security measure when I installed 20 but found no problems and just left 15 on the system too.
I like the selection process better in 20 and especially the 'auto select' which is very helpful in rapid selecting, then it's easy to 'fine-tune' from that point.
There are other refinements in 20 over 15 that my tired old brain refuses at this moment to pull up, but there was a significant bit of improvements in 20. I'm considering 22 now but am not really too excited about the few improvements they boast about.
God Bless,
Papa Joe

My advice: Purchase PSE 20-21 at Staples or BestBuy when they have a sale. I'm not sure you'll get much more from PSE 2022. Yes, you will lose 14.

He won’t lose 14. They’re standalone programs. I have 14 and 20 on my system.

Adobe has just released Photoshop Elements 2022. I'm currently using Elements 14, which I find adequate for my needs. My question is, if I upgrade for $79 on sale (not purchase a complete new 2022 package), will the upgrade wipe out my current version making it impossible to go back to 14?
Thanks.

Do not know what happens, but I upgraded and would NEVER go back to my old version which I believe was also PSE 14.

I shouldn't. I have 14, 15 and 2018 all 3 installed on one computer and they all work fine.

If at anytime you install a new ANYTHING program, you need to make a clone of your drive (or an image - either will work). Then if the new app... screws things up, you merely need to swap your HD / SDD or if you made an image, just do a restore and you are back to before you installed your new program.

A lot of effort and expense to deal with a new release of commercially available application software.

$29.95 too much for added security?

The only complication would be if you use the organizer. Once you've used 2022 to update your organizer database, I don't think you can turn it back into a database that would be usable with the 2014 version. That may or may not be a concern for you. I don't personally use the organizer, just the editor. I'm currently using the 2019 version of Photoshop Elements - I've typically upgraded only every 4-5 years - and found it to be quite a bit more useful than the version I'd previously been using. I never had any reason to go back and use the previous version, so I've uninstalled it and don't remember now exactly which version it was. I'd recommend updating, as there have been a lot of improvements since 2014, but you can prove it to yourself by downloading the free trial version directly from Adobe and use it for 30 days. Just don't update your organizer until you decide whether you intend to purchase the upgrade.
