Technically a Marine is Naval Infantry…and depending on which google definition you choose to believe a solder is either part of an army or part of an organized military force. Most civilians don't really have much of a grasp on the fine nuances of soldier, airman, sailor or marine and call them all soldiers.
One thing that is different about the Marines…at least according to them…is that there's no such a thing as a "former Marine"…their view is "Once a Marine, always a Marine". The other services generally don't have that view…it's one of those esprit de corps things that Marines believe.
From a practical standpoint…they're soldiers very similar to Army guys. Sailors and AF wienies differ somewhat…but a lot of civilians as I said call them all soldiers.
Then there are submarine folks like I was…we call ourselves bubbleheads and deny being sailors.

I'm not defending Trump at all…he's a moron. However, he did win the election so there's that. He did some good things…but he did some stupid things as well. All Presidents do this in case you haven't noticed.
However…Biden is also a moron. I could cite several examples but (a) ya'll lefties would just disagree with them and (b) it would get even more off track than this thread already is.

DoD management did not leave ammo, supplies and equipment behind. All of that was given to the Afghan Defense Forces and they left it behind after they folded like a deck of cards.
What were we supposed to do, take all of the equipment and arms back from them leaving them with nothing? If you think the Taliban takeover was rapid, just imagine how much more quickly they would have defeated an unarmed Afghan Defense Force.
