My brother lives in bend I’ll have to have him show me next time I’m up there. His house sits on a lava tube , if you thump the ground you can hear it echo

Boyd Cave is within Deschutes National Forest and is located on the northern flank of Newberry Volcano near the city of Bend. It is a 1,880-foot-long lava tube. By venturing down 20 feet via a set of sturdy steel stairs, visitors enter into a unique and chilly underground setting. Be sure to dress warmly as temperatures in the cave remain around 42 degrees year round, and be sure to bring headlights, flashlights, or lanterns for visibility and safety.

interesting and beautiful shots, dave, and those clouds in the last shot are must magnificent!

Whoever it was called it a cave but in reality it is a lava tube. There are quite a few in northeastern California, specifically Shasta. Lassen and Modoc counties. They form as the lava on the surface cools but underground it keeps flowing leaving a tube or as erroneously called a cave.

I had the camera on a tripod and it was set for a long exposure and I was slow getting into place so I was still moving when the shutter opened.

I reshot and stayed still in the image where I am not fuzzy.

Thanks for asking.

Dave

I like the moving effect. Sometimes the best photos are surrendipidous.
