Here in KY we have only the Eastern Kingbirds and it looks to me like that's what you got, but do you all also have the Western version, as an Audubon map shows their ranges may overlap?

Also, do you ever see the small red crest of feathers that they only show when being super aggressive?

Thanks. Yes, we have both versions, and I often see the two versions fighting with each other. Very seldom have I been fortunate enough to see the colored crest of feathers. They hardly ever show when the birds are sitting still.
The Kingbirds are indeed, super aggressive especially during nesting season, and actually peck at my hat if I get too close when mowing the lawn.
