I like the first one. It offers its own fidelity to the subject and gives a strong sense of place. The composition attracts the eye. The high contrast works here although I generally prefer less.

You may not have an application to adjust contrast but on this photo of yours I reduced the contrast to lighten the shadows to bring out more detail, and in the burned out highlight areas it can bring out more detail there also. It shows more of what the human eye can see but the camera cannot record. I used Photoshop.

I think this photo of yours is a really good shot and worth adjustments. I would have liked seeing it in full color.
