Just use the USB cable that came with it and plug into the PC. The PC would then detect the Iphone as a drive. You will have to get on the Iphone and allow the PC to view files. Then just like a drive you can copy the images on to your PC.
You can't however copying images from the PC to the Iphone.

emailing them works also. Changes the photo from the Apple thing to jpeg.

If you want to send an image from your pc to iPhone, email the image on your pc to yourself. Open the email on your iPhone, select the image and save to phone’s Photo.

Download Photo Transfer App on your phone and on your iMac or PC. You can then transfer your photos from the iPhone to an iMac or PC over the internet, no connection needed.

I use "Image Capture" by Apple on my iMac. I'm sure there is a comparable product for PC. Connect camera via USB cable. Turn it on. Choose what to import to your PC.

One advantage of iCloud for Windows is that you can access anything in your iCloud, not only photos.

I do it all the time. I need no software. Just the USB cable that came with the phone. It's the fastest way. Emailing takes forever if you have a lot to transfer. The cloud works but you're at the mercy of your internet speed. Very inefficient for 2 devices sitting next to each other yet their data has to be sent way way up to the cloud before getting to the other.

But if you use iCloud you don’t have to be near your iPhone.

Might consider it an alternative method.

Be sure to go into Settings-Camera and set it so your camera automatically converts the photo to another Mac device or a PC. For the PC, the conversion will be from Apple's HEIC file format to JPG. Then when you plug your iPhone USB cable into the PC, your phone will beep and show a message asking if you want "this device" which is the PC to access Photos. In your PC's directory tree you will see iPhone-DCIM and that’s where your photos will be. You may also see sub-directories of 100Apple, 101Apple, depending on how many photos are stored on the iPhone. There may also be iCloud directories for photos on the Apple iCloud.

I recently discovered that photos taken with the iPhone’s "Live View" won’t transfer to a PC. They have a regular JPEG file followed by a 0 byte MOV file with the same file name and the PC doesn’t know what to do with that combination.

I batch copied 73 images yesterday using the iPhone-USB-PC method. Works great.

You can use a built-in facility called air drop - this should appear when you look at your photos. When you activate the app it asks you to state which device you wish to send the photo to - It can be any apple device - I send them to my imac desktop - it takes seconds and the photo appears on my desktop screen.
