Here are some more shoes in the old wine box; favorite hiking shoes that have taken me on many wonderful hikes as far away as New Zealand, Yosemite and Yellowstone in addition to the wonderful trails near the house.

#s 2 and 3 are a little darker, less saturated, and more in keeping with the mysterious mood I've been trying to create. Which do you prefer?

Sharp and colorful, Vicki. I like the previous versions better, though.

A very well executed set. I have trouble empathizing with the subject. Since I only own western boots!

Vicki, I really love your approach to photography! However, I am probably in the minority in that I like the ones that are brighter.

My wife has often commented (with love, of course), "but you already have a picture of that." My answer has always been, "as soon as I take the perfect picture, I'll quit." That gives me lots of room, of course.

You do inspire me to continue.

Scotty

More creative work, Vicki! I am surprised that as OCD as I am, your random order shots are more appealing to me.

I have a rather eclectic mix of shoes and boots. I’ve certainly thought about doing a western boot theme. The boots have dirt and manure on them and are divided between the garage and two barns. At some point they may find a place in the box with some spurs, gloves and other horse tack. Wait and see.

Thanks for taking time for this post quixdraw. I’m grateful for your your opinions.

Thanks for letting me know your preference, Scotty. I couldn’t decide which style I preferred , so it helps to get an idea of what others like. I’m also flattered that my shots inspire you. This has been kind of a self-imposed assignment and certainly a good way to experiment with light. You’re only limited by your imagination.

I think I prefer the less structured composition, too. It seems to have more movement that forces your eye to travel from shoe to shoe. I’ve never been accused of being OCD. That describes my husband. One in a house is plenty. 😊

I agree with both UTMike and kpmac. The random order shots in this post are more appealing to me. But my favorite is the first shot in your "Sole Mates" post. You've definitely inspired me to try some still life work though. Maybe this weekend.

As to your question dark vs light, I like the first shot best which surprises me because I usually find myself leaning towards darker images in general.
