Anyone, besides me had any problems extracting the firmware from the dowloaded file from Nikon?

Do you have experience doing Nikon updates? It can be tricky. I have Nikon DSLRs, but no problem with updates - yet.

Not until this one. The program just won't extract. Any suggestions?

The trick is, after extraction, copy the entire firmware folder to the SD card you are updating from. Normally you would just copy the update file to the SD card but the P1000 is different.
You might also try just re-downloading the update. Sometimes files get corrupted during the download process.

Thanks, did that at least 10 times. The .exe file won't open at all.

Do you get "F-P1000-V14W.exe" on your hard drive?

As I recall, I bought the P1000 used. It already had the 1.4 firmware installed. I downloaded the file and I could not open that either.

Interesting. I just downloaded the update from their website, unpacked the files and reformatted the card in the camera. Then, I transfer the folder named "firmware" to the card and it updates just fine. Tried it twice with no problem.
An .exe file that won't open on a Windows computer is likely corrupted. Be sure you're getting the file from a legit source, download it anew, and try again.
The ONLY file you copy to your camera is the firmware. NOT the the folder it extracts in.
I just did it and it worked perfectly.

I'm afraid I am just going to give up. I have downloaded the file at least a dozen times, using two different internet browsers. I have download the file directly from Nikon website. The file will not open. I get a message to close all my applications, restart windows and try again. I have done this numerous times all with the same result, I am unable to open the file and nothing will extract. Thanks for all your help. Mike
