I like them all but my favorites are the wide shot with the surfer in the foreground (2).
Mommy and Baby
and Yellow submarine.
They tell a story and made me look longer. That is what a "photograph" does!

I really liked #3. Looks like a ND capture. But they are all beyond great 👍.

Our photography instructor wanted each student to submit our best photo for critique. I have a folder labeled "my best photos" and went to that to select one. It was difficult but I came out with one. I'm including my favorite in these ten finalist photos. I'm curious if you have a favorite amongst these ten and if my choice is the same as yours.
They all look best in download mode.

3. I like that I feel pulled right into the action by the close focus on the surfer. I think his blown hair captures the excitement of the moment, especially as the whitewater in the wave also contains this dynamic. I think the composition gives the image a strong focus, a focus which also concentrates on the very moment the shot itself captures. I love your work always.

Brent .., 1…3… 7 ..are my favorites .. 2 was my favorite visual ..,

1) had the most radical action and visual color .. #3) lacked the color and pizzzzaz .. but was an outstanding shot ..# 7 captured the perfect wave and the smile of the enjoyment of the sport ….I would have upped it a little on color and clarity …, but the toss up is between 1 & 7 …I’ll stick with #7 ..

Thanks for your vote. I did some serious PP work on that one.

It just is so different from what I see in contests as well as here on UHH.
It was rendered very well.

If a photograph can help a viewer feel an emotion that the photographer is trying to evoke, is it successful? Like a painting from an artist? Moving the viewer in a direction and "feeling" that he or she is directing the viewer towards?
Thanks for your input.

ND32, YOU have chosen the photograph that I submitted for the class project!!! Good job! That will be my photo that will be critiqued on Thursday 9-30-21.
Thank you for the "beyond great" comment, I really appreciate it!

Chickflat, YOU have chosen the photograph that I submitted for the class project!!! Good job! That will be my photo that will be critiqued on Thursday 9-30-21. Everything you mentioned about the #3 image I echo. Your thoughts, especially on the composition were exactly my thoughts. It's unusual and interesting (in my opinion). My thoughts were that this image would stand out in our class critique on Thursday as being different from the other classmate images. I also find it interesting that only about three of us selected that image to submit for the assignment. I've never met you, but I'm guessing you are a very creative person. Thanks for your in depth analysis of the ten images and for being on the same page as myself.........Thanks also for loving my work too!

Thanks for your input on the two choices you have selected. #2 has been very popular in this poll.

Dr. Nikon, I know you love surfing photos and each of the four photos you have selected are ALL surfer photos! I think you might be a little biased towards the surfing photos only! It's ok though........everyone has their own personal preferences and no one has a right to tell you that you made wrong or bad choices!
Thanks for your thoughts on these ten photos. As you might have read in my previous posts, #3 was the photo I selected for the class assignment........so you got it right!

Architect1776, by your avatar, I'm guessing that architecture is a huge part of your life.......probably a profession. I'm not surprised that you have chosen #6. I also have been in the architecture, land planning and landscape architecture business for many years. Did you like the architecture of the Portland Temple? It kind of reminds me of a castle. Thanks for your compliments about the photo being rendered very well.

All wonderful pictures. As usual, the action pictures can't be better but I really like #2. It seems so simple but there's so much to look at. The portrait is also beautiful.
