This bird stopped and turned mid-air, dove onto the fast moving water, and fished out lunch.

great set...I notice the eagle keeping his wings up...if the Eagle were to go completely into the water trying to catch a fish it would not be able to fly out and if it was not close enough to shore to swim to safety it would drown. Β An Osprey on the otherhand, can completely submerge itself catching a fish and flyΒ out with a fish about as large as it is. Β The difference is the Ospreyβs feathers are waterproof like a ducks and so its wings do not become water-soaked.
Thanks for that info, sumo, I noticed the "keep your wings dry" behavior. Interesting that Ospreys can submerge completely.
I understand that Ospreys line up fish with their body and Eagles line them up with their wings. Dragging that fish sideways out of the water, from a dead stop, didn't look easy!
Great! I would make a stop-action movie sequence out of it.
The OP asked me to make a movie out of this and I did. Anyone know how to post a movie to UHH?
