Heading to Manchester NH this weekend for a few days. Any suggested places for nice views, foliage, easy walks within an hour drive of Manchester? Thanks.
An hour's drive makes a pretty big radius. From Manchester, you could easily drive to Mount Monadnock which is real popular and offers great views (you can hike or drive to the summit). The Society for the Protection of NH Forests has a nice piece of land with easy hiking trails along the Merrimack River in Concord and NH Audubon has two great preserves; one in Manchester, on Lake Masabesic (Masabesic Audubon) and another in Concord (Silk Farm). You're also in reach of the coast where you could visit Odiorne State Park. We're no where near peak fall foliage, south of Concord, though.

How about Boston -- only one hour away. Some really great things to photograph there like the harbor, the mall downtown, Beacon Hill area. Lots of history and street performers are common on the downtown mall.
Thanks -- already know Boston pretty well.
Good tips...thanks. Will have already been to the coast. Just looking to do more exploration inland.
Lake Winnepesaukee take a cruise on the MV Mount Washington. It does run special fall foliage cruises. On the north side of lake about half way up in the Ossipee Mountains is the “Castle in the Clouds”. A home built in the early 1900’s and it is all original. The horse stable is beautiful and is now a restaurant with tables in horse stalls. It also has a huge patio for dining with great views of the lake.

Good tips -- will check them out. Thanks
Lived there for 25 years; an hour in any direction, except south, will give many photo opportunities.
That's pretty straightforward...thanks.
https://www.visit-newhampshire.com/state/covered-bridges/Henniker, Contoocook, Hopkinton - all nearby each other, less than an hour north by highway I93>I89 exit 4. About an hour by back road. NH114 through Goffstown, Weare, et al.
https://www.visit-newhampshire.com/dartmouth/Lake Sunapee has some nice cruises - not too long, with color showing (about an hour plus some, though) I93>I89 exits 9/10/11
Manchester is a nice old mill city. Worth a day by itself, for period/vintage buildings and houses. The main drag is
Elm St. Many and varied restaurants - and good "street shots" available.

I hope they mucked out those stalls before adding the tables and seating!

Call Gunstock Ski Area in Gilford. See if the lift is running to the top. Great views of Lake Winnie and the mountains.
