My take on Palouse falls after visiting last week. There are very few options other than from the designated overlook. However, its still a magnificent view and the waterfalls are beautiful...What a state waterfall?
History; Washington has a state bird, a state flower, a state tree, a state fossil and state song, and a host of other official state items. Why not a state waterfall?
What could have been a simple school project has evolved into a large, and impressive, undertaking for students at Washtucna Schools during the past few months in 2014. The students have officially submitted House Bill 2119, a bill to officially designate Palouse Falls as the state waterfall.
After months of research and study, five students stood in front of state legislators and testified at a hearing for the bill. The students were provided with two minutes to discuss why Palouse Falls should become the official state waterfall....Long story short, After six months of hard work and determination, third through sixth grade students in the Washtucna School District, pushed through a bill that made Palouse Falls the state waterfall.
If you're in the area, south central Washington, its definitely worth the trip into the boondocks to see this small state park and waterfall. Sorry but it was in bright sunshine and in the middle of the day....Cheers and thank you for the recommendation Mike...

Thank you Charles, most appreciated and its an interesting waterfall in the middle of this arid region.
How cool is that! I love your pictures of it. I was there almost right at noon, and the light was bad. I was so concentrated on zooming in on the falls, that I failed to get a pictures of the little canyon into which it falls! I really like yous.

Thank you very much, we were there between 1300 and 1400 hrs and as you can see, it was bright. Depending on season (sun angle) and time of day, some morning and evening shout could be spectacular....Cheers AzPicLady

Thanks and its in the Boonies, however so worth it...happy you liked it and glad its designated as a state park and protected. What's interesting as you enter the park, you have to go over a railroad line in a small canyon, and yes, a train went through as we were there and I thought that would have also made an excellent photo op.
