I may be in Atlanta for few days this coming February and was wondering what photo worthy sites it may have. I've been many times in Atlanta airport but never in the city itself.

Izzy, with a little help from your friends, you'll see there are many photo opportunities in Atlanta. You might want to start with the obvious, the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. You can go crazy getting just the right pictures of the round tower. If you venture onto Peachtree Street, you'll also see many other buildings worthy of photographing. Go to the Lenox Mall area and take a look at the various building there. Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Garden are right together and provide a lot of opportunites. If you like churches, inside or outside, look up The Cathedral of St. Philip on Peachtree. You may go inside as long as there are no services in progress. Little 5 Points is a great place to go for Street Photography. Let me know if this helps.

Just do Peachtree Street:

"Peachtree Street is the main street of Atlanta. Beginning at Five Points in Downtown Atlanta, it runs north through Midtown and, upon entering Buckhead, its name changes to Peachtree Road. The city grew up around the street, and Peachtree Street is for Atlanta what Broadway is for the city of New York: the proverbial and legendary heart of the city. Much of Atlanta's historic and noteworthy architecture is located along Peachtree Street. The street is used annually for parades, including the Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Atlanta Christmas Parade, as well as one-time parades, such as for the 100th anniversary of Coca-Cola in 1988 and the Atlanta Braves 1995 World Series victory." -Wikipedia

Gone With the Wind fans check out Msrgret Mitchel's house.
The Bstonical Gardens have a beautiful Jspsnese garden.
Centinial Park is kind of boring to me but there are zome good people shots if you are there at the right time.

The Georgia Aquarium is awesome, I came away with some really nice pictures from there, it's really top notch. For some added fun Google "The Vortex" for a awesome Burger in a totally funky setting, go to the one that's not downtown the entrance and the inside are photo oops also and awesome food !

If you haven't seen the aquarium, do so. It's the largest aquarium in the country. The big tank is hard to believe. Nearby is the Coca Cola Headquarters. A block or so away is the CNN headquarters. All in the Centenial Park area. A lot in a close area. Stone Mountain is a little east of Atlanta, which is impressive to see, also.

The Atlanta Zoo and Stone Mountain are also great places to visit with your camera. Have a good time in Georgia and post lots of photos!

Where you photograph will depend on how much time you have, where you may be staying during your visit.
If you visit CNN Center, directly across the steeet, is Centennial Olympic Park, in the same area of on the South side is the GA Dome (Falcons, SEC Championship, are played in this venue) The GA World Congress Center is to the West of CNN Center. The Georgia Aquarium as Westizer said is the largest aquarium in the United States. The World of Coke is also close to CNN, the GA Dome.
One attraction you may want to visit is The Varsity the worlds largest drive in is located on North Avenue, you can get a view of I75-I85 as they join to run thru the city.
The State Capitol is a spectacular view by day or night, it's Gold Dome is covered in gold leaf a great deal of which was mined in Dahlonega GA.
If you want people pics journey to "Little Five Points" little five points because Five Points in downtown Altanta proper is where Peachtree one of the most famous streets starts at 1 Peachtree and travels into the burbs for approx 34 miles of course changing from Peachtree St to Peachtree Road. Is a great place to shop and people watch, the Vortex rumored to be and most people agree serves the best hamburger in Atlanta.
Stone Mountain, at Stone Mountain GA on the east side of Atlanta features a carving of Lee, Davis and Stonewall Jackson, there is a reflecting pool to mirror the carving.
"Gone With the Wind author lived in a place the she termed "The Dump" is located in the 900 Block of Peachtree, she later died as a result of an auto accident and was buried in Oakland Cemetary.
By now you probably have filled all your memory cards in might want to buy some extra ones at Showcase Camera, at the corner of LaVista Road and Cheshire Bridge Road, they carry a good variety of camera equipment, but probably a smaller version of B&H or Adorama, price and size being the exception.
