The situation in London is such that many multi-£million properties are bought by foreign "investors". That term might be translated as gangsters laundering money in large lumps into a market that is sutained by other criminals. In one respect the greater the price is overstated then the better it suits their purpose. Often the properties aren't actually used as residences but that isn't the point is it/

Exactly. A big beautiful house with in ground pool and many other amenities in my subdivision sold for, I think, $275,000. That same house 400 miles North in the Chicago area would have sold for $700,000 or more. My daughter said I should have bought it. Yeah right, being single and living alone that would have been overkill
Is she a beneficiary in the will?

I guess location means a lot. This one is in Boston - the Skinny House, ten feet wide. It sold in less than a week.
Jerry: does this mean you are leaving the Hudson Valley??
I know of apts sold outside but close to Boston sold for $9&0,000 about 1150 sq ft.
For that particular house, it is not so much it's location as that it is unique (10ft wide). You can search the internet for this history of it (sorry, I'm too lazy to do it for you). I'm surprised that it sold for only 1.25M (not that I would buy it). That is a better value that the NFTs that are selling for crazy amounts, and all you really get are bragging rights. With the skinny house, you could charge admission, or sell tours, or something.

So many people are not even able to pay their rent, and others have this much excess! Think how many people could be helped with that kind of money!
Maybe they could go get a job to pay for rent, etc. 🤔🙄

That house I would think would be tough to live in. Certainly not for old folks.
You could have mine in Barbados for that price! 4 beds, 5 bath, pool & i/2 acre of land

This is why I won't live in a city like that. There's no room to breathe. Few can afford it. The quality of life is polluted, loud, rude, biologically infectious, and dangerous. Give me the suburbs of a small to medium size city.
We would be wise to teach our youth to invest wisely, rather than to spend all their income. It takes a lifetime, but you can save enough over time to support yourself comfortably, if you have the discipline. While real estate can be an investment, the neighborhood can deteriorate and home values can drop appreciably and quickly.
I had read the story surrounding it. Two brothers own a lot of family property in the area. The one brother went to war and when he came back his butthead brother built a big mansion on the land. So the brother built this skinny house for the sole purpose of blocking the large house's windows and entranceway. Indeed the place is called 'Spite house'.
I assume passage on left leads to back yard with pool.
