He did, Hondo. A lot of people that would ordinarily have respected Fauci, did not, because of how Donald deprecated everything Dr. Fauci said.

He lied about the NIH funding gain of function research in Wuhan. Turns out it wasn't at the virology lab, it was at a different lab at a university that didn't even have as many safeguards as the virology lab.

He has lied about masks. His own words he told a friend by email that drugstore masks don't work. Then he told everyone to wear them. Then he was caught at a major league baseball game without one. Then he lied again, saying he took it down to get a drink, but he isn't getting a drink in the photo.

Why anyone would believe a thing he says is beyond me. And since the gain of function research that his grants funded were on covid related illensses, it is quite possible that he did indeed help fund the virus.

That has nothing to do with Donald trump deprecating Fauci. In fact I don't remember him deprecating Fauci at all while he was still President. All he did was support his findings.

The reason conservatives don't respect Fauci (including me) is that he has openly lied on many different occasions. He even admits it! One of his worst was when he told Americans that we would reach herd immunity if only 60 to 70% of Americans got vaccinated or became sick with the virus. Then he upped it to 70-75%. Then he upped it again to 75-80%. Not stopping there, he later upped it to greater than 80%.

Normally a health official or doctor would be given the benefit of the doubt because of changing conditions and new information emerging about the virus, and it would be okay to change assessments. But Fauci himself later admitted that he thought the figure should be up to 90% all along. He explained that he was only testing the waters to see how high a figure the public would accept, and so he just kept nudging it up, completely oblivious to the fact that people were going to quote his previous estimates. How can he even be that stupid? How can anybody trust a public figure like that? I know, Democrats do. And I swear democrats have little regard for telling the truth, just so long as their leaders have the right opinions on things. They let liars slide all the time. It is very frustrating.
