Cliveden House & Grounds, Berkshire, U.K.

Today, I rejoined the National Trust after an absence of 35 years and visited Cliveden House. Although it's only 15 miles from me I've not been there before. Heavy rain all morning subdued the Visitor numbers which made easier shooting from the roadways.
I was with a party of friends from days long gone by when we were all members of Y.H.A. affiliated walking / hostelling group, and we didn't cover as much ground as we would have liked. Here's a few of my shots from the day, I hope you enjoy them. Comments always welcome.

http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/clivedenhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClivedenNot sure how long its been a hotel, one of the party said over 40 years, but all the answers are sure to be on Wikipedia or the Trusts site linked above. I'll have to read a bit more myself before I next go. But there are quite a few of these old estates near to me, now in the care of The National Trust.
Beautiful images John - well captured!
Nice images, John.
I suppose they called it a house so as to not sound pretentious. But that’s a castle if I ever saw one.
Stan
Quite a house, I'm sure they need tourists to pay for taxes, upkeep and utilities.
