Yes what is your issue? I am happy my Rolex, a gift from my wife of many years, and she wore hers also happily until she passed away recently.

The reality is that if you earned the money and pay for it, you don’t owe anyone an explanation or justification for what you purchase. End of discussion.

DSLRinosaurs reigned supreme for nearly 20 years building on even more ancient film-based technology. The summer of their dynasty started to end about 11 years ago when an asteroid crashed into the digital photography world known as MILC (the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera).

With your spate of comments you have successfully created a Never Canon consumer. Given one, I'd sell it! I'd no more carry one than I'd wear a Rolex.

Golly, I've been shooting a Canon D5 since they were new and wearing a Rolex for a lot longer than that. I guess that I just have better taste than you. Harry PS If that doesn't P1$$ you off, I also drive a foreign sports car and I'm married to a beautiful blonde. And while I haven't slept with as many women as Wilt, I think that I may be in second place or possibly third! My 20s and 30s were a lot of fun! (Acually, my 40s and 50s weren't bad either!)

My good taste knows no bounds. Oh yeah - and I have a JD from Yale too! And an MA in Anthropology from a major land grant university. Now retired and living in poverty on 100K/year. Only flaw in my life - I'm over 65. Oh well, nobody lives forever! BTW, how's that Kodak working out for you? A pinhole right?

My first SLR was a Mamiya Armor 1000 DTL. when Pentax F let you take a meter reading while the viewfinder was still bright, I switched to Pentax. After a friend asked me to photograph his race car, on display and during the races, I found Nikon had a better selection of semi along zoom lenses. By the time digital was a practical choice for me I stayed with Nikon, starting with a D1x.

While I don't get into too many discussions about which brand might be better ((Ford vs Chevy wore me out years ago) I have not found any compelling reason to switch brands at this point.

To all the Canon haters, they must be doing something right they sell more cameras than any other company, I chose Canon because it seemed to me that with a Nikon camera at that time the lens was off centre to the body.
My first Canon camera was the Canon A1 and that in my opinion was an excellent camera and I believe the first multi mode camera.
I have always bought Canon kit ever since, others but the name they want but I fail to understand the bitterness of Nikon users perhaps they are not happy with camera gear.

Agree on Nikon D90. Looking for a 2nd body. did buy Canon because of clearance 40% off of Canon t6 with 2 lense kit for 11year old granddaughter. She started to learn on D90 and still prefers it, maybe because it-'s grandpa's.

My first SLR was a Canon T-70. I was on a remote overseas assignment for 18 months and, sort of on a whim, decided that photography would be a good way to pass the time (not to mention chronicle my overseas adventures). So, the next time I was at our main base, I went to the BX and looked at Cameras. I didn't know much about cameras, but knew I wanted one with interchangable lenses. They had the T-70 in a display case and it was an SLR that had some rather cool (for the time) technology. So, being that the price was right, I decided that would be a good starting point. It wasnt a deep scientific process to decide what I wanted, I just liked the features and especially the feel on that Camera. Then, like you sticking with Nikon, I decided to stick with Canon when I bought by first digital. I've been a Canon shooter ever since and have been quite happy. However, I could just as easily have gotten in to Nikon had that BX had one that hit my fancy at the time and I'm sure I'd probably still be shooting Nikon.

The one that uses the camera and learns how to use its capabilities.

Note... I have excuses for not using mine and I have permission from Canon to be a hypocrite.

PRESS RELEASE - Canon EOS R3

MELVILLE, NY (September 14, 2021)

Building on the success of the EOS R camera series, Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the next leap forward in full-frame mirrorless cameras – the professional-grade Canon EOS R3. The new camera leverages the advancements in technology that Canon has developed since the original EOS R launch in 2018 and bridges the gap between the immensely popular EOS R5 and the world-renowned Canon flagship EOS-1D X line. The EOS R3 is the first ‘3’ series camera from Canon since the widely used EOS-3 film camera was launched in 1998.

The EOS R3 camera’s features greatly emphasize superb AF performance and speed with fast-moving subjects. It was designed to meet the reliability and durability demands of professionals, even when working in some extremely challenging conditions.

The core of the EOS R3 features a Canon designed and manufactured 24.1-megapixel back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor. The sensor is the first of its kind from Canon, and when combined with the DIGIC X processor, delivers a high-speed readout allowing for continuous blackout-free shooting at up to 30 fps in electronic (silent) shutter mode and up to 12 fps in the mechanical shutter, with minimum rolling electronic shutter distortion. The combination also increases the high sensitivity, light-capturing efficiency of a native ISO range of 100-102,400, expandable up to 204,800 for still images. Like the EOS R5 and R6, the camera features the improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with 1,053 AF Points and evolved EOS iTR tracking down to EV -7.5 for subjects such as eye, face, head, animals, and select cars and motorcycles. In addition, the camera features up to 8 stops of in-body image stabilized (IBIS) shake correction.

Additional features of the EOS R3 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera include:

- Canon’s next-generation Multi-Function Shoe that is compatible with a variety of accessories including the Speedlite EL-1, and new accessories such as the ST-E10 Speedlite Transmitter, External Mic, and Smartphone Link Adapter

- One-piece magnesium alloy design, integrating the body with a vertical grip section

- Weather and dust resistance equivalent to EOS-1D camera models.

- Mobile File Transmitter application for iOS® and Android® devices allows photographers to transfer their images quickly and easily without the need for wired LAN equipment

- Built-in Wired LAN, 5GHz Wi-Fi®, USB and Bluetooth® technology

- Dual-card slots, supporting one CF express and one UHS-II SD

- The Canon EOS R3 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera is scheduled to be available in November 2021 for a suggested retail price of $5999.99*. For more information, please visit usa.canon.com

Exactly what we knew from those using it during the Olympics. Great addition for Canon users. Not going to change the world of photography as much as the Sony A1 does.

Canon finally came around to having a fullframe mirrorless with all the stacked sensor advantages that Sony A9 , A9II and A1 users have enjoyed since the first stacked sensor A9 was released on May 11, 2017, over four years ago.

But Canon does have a R1 coming, now that might have some tech that is really new and/or unique.

Cheers ,and for all you Canon users, enjoy this time.

I laugh at Rolex. It's like walking around with a huge white lens attached to your camera. Too much money and not enough sense.

Nothing but a Patek Philippe touches my wrist.
