It's a USB flash drive. If it is as cheap or cheaper than a SanDisk of the same size, buy it. Otherwise don't. Backup is no mystery. Select what you want and drag to receiving media.

There were several threads on this. It's just a standard USB flash drive with the software. The software is supposed to search your hard drive to find photo files and save them. It's not worth it. Do you really need such a software to do back up?

It simply does automatically what you can do manually.
It might even copy stuff you don't want copied.
Best to use the operating system and selectively copy stuff yourself.

Forget it - overpriced and the SW is very poor - may or may not find all your photos and may or may not back up irrelevant things (and a USB “thumb” drive is a lousy backup media besides).

In my opinion, you do NOT want software that searches for all the images on your computer and stores them. There are a lot of images on your computer that are not photos that you took. There are images on buttons, backgrounds for dialogs, icons for software, and more. They're junk.

You want to store YOUR photos, not the other stuff you don't even look at.

Another thing: USB memory sticks are not a real archival medium. They're fine for short-term transfers and things like that, but not for long-term storage.

How many RAW, TIF, JPG files can it store? At what cost?

I don’t use them. I know where my photos are and how to copy them for backup onto other devices.

It supposedly does a the work for you by finding your photos and backing up. However, I have only seen it advertise for backing up the photos on your computer. It does not have the storage capacity for me to do that. I use external hard drives About $130 for about 6TB of storage.

Do not use. It is a scam product. It does not work.

They have different sizes and of course they would hold the same number of images as an USB thumb drive of the same size (perhaps a few less because they have the software on them). They are selling for more money than a USB thumb drive of the same size. The selling point is that the software automatically search your hard drive for image files and save them on the USB thumb drive. You can do it yourself without paying for the software. I heard that the software didn't work all that good any way.

The problem there is that they can find ALL the image files. Not only YOUR photos. You will wind up with extraneous garbage from other software that contains button images, dialog backgrounds and icons. Then you have to sort it all out yourself.

Go to the disk or folder that holds your OS or your programs. Do a search for *.jpg. See how much junk you find.

Easier to use your own mind to do the sorting.
