Does it allow for a quick escape when the action gets too close?😳

I’ve been looking at various styles of small, portable chairs do use from time to time. Bad back and replaced hips don’t always work well with 3-4 games a day. Anyways I was at a local college soccer game and saw the following chair. It looks pretty good. Curious if anyone else has use this or something similar during their shoots.

A five second search on Amazon found your seat. Your welcome.

Yes. No need to close. Just grab strap and move quickly away. Lightweight. The link was provided from others.

I bought one about 18 months ago from BH. It folds small and is sturdy. I used it for a star shoot and some outdoor group classes. It is an engineered resin and gets attention when openeing and closing. I have a 3 legged short folding canvas stool that cost over $60. and it was not stable enough for me.

I saw an ad for this style seat. I thought the design was interesting, but not for for me.

I’m partial to the wire-framed, fold-up camp seats that resemble bear traps. Not a huge seating area, but they are very compact when folded.

For sports: Please be sure to check that seats are permitted on the sidelines before you set up. If so, they will tell you how close you can get.

Seats and monopods go well together.

Let the monopod support the weight of the camera. You may as well take a load off of your shoulders as well as your hips and spine. A plain pole ( closet rod or broom stick) with a bolt on the end is a simple option. You don't need a ball head on it if your lens has a rotating mount. You don't need an adjustable length—your posture and the seat height will determine a good length.

Consider a leash on the seat.

On those favorable occasions the play would come towards me, I wanted to move aside quickly, before the players fell on me. I certainly didn’t want to leave anything for them to trip over. A short loop of rope connecting your belt to your chair moves it out of the way when you move out of the way. It may be uncomfortable to walk more than a step or two, but that is usually all you need. And, you don’t need a third hand for a split-second departure.

Interesting. On one of my trips to England, I thought of buying a shooting stick - cane and chair combination. I realized I'd probably never use it, no I left it there. It's for the other kind of shooting - not with a camera. : )

Wow! $66.00! https://www.amazon.com/Harrington-Marley-Shooting-Adjustable-Leather/dp/B00MKZBXRC

Or even more -

Why not try a traffic cone?

I use this. Fits nicely in the car...rolls over rough terrain and carries your equipment...one of the best photo accessories I have.

I never thought about this one. I have the heavy duty one with springs... Don't know if I would use for football. I have had a few tripods taken out by running backs. Think that for football I would be an easy mark when the play goes on to the side lines. Been knocked on my butt once or twice and even had a lens taken out too. Good thing that I carry insurance for my photo equipment. I shoot right on the field, sidelines.

I am 78. My biggest need with such a chair is one that is high enough off the ground to prevent leg cramping. Most that you can buy are too short. Most card table chairs are too short. Good luck.

I use a Triple Tree folding stool from Amazon, about 30 bucks, which gives me a hand hold to help stand up with my bad knees.

My wife and I recently took two of these on a trip out to Monhegan Island for painting and photography, and found them remarkably comfortable for long periods of sitting, and easily portable as well. Much more comfortable and stable that the three-legged style. If you order this, be sure to get the large size.

But it's not as tall as this other style, if that's an issue.
