It’s not really a background, we were shooting in her bedroom and thought that the mirror inside her closet door was nice.

I'M sorry if it is behind the subject it's the background, what you are attempting is very difficult to do and I don't have a clue as what to suggest to help you make it work.
You have a great model to work with, keep trying!!
If I comment on an someones work its because I see potential!!!

Hi, I’m John Wirtz. I’m a career photographer and hold a degree in photographic art. I held an internship under Joseph Kern Ford in my early twenties ( I’m now 66). I photographed for many publications including penthouse, easyriders and sun times to name a few. I’ve won national photo contests twice and local or regional one countless times. Just now I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 cameras in my house. I’m a photographer through and through, been one since before I could drive. I’ve designed and built 11 darkrooms and 3 professional studios for myself and others during my career.

I’m not bragging about all of this but rather to let you know that I appreciate your seeing my “potential”.

I joined this group because I’m no longer doing photography for work. I’m retired and everything I shoot now is on my own time and terms and I thought it might be fun to interact with other photographers.

Regardless of ones style or experience, no one enjoys being talked down to. You seem like a nice enough guy. Don’t be derisive or dismissive.

Your brother in light,

John

Oh, and while it may not seem so to you, every pixel of my images is there because I want it there. An average of 3-5 hours goes into the photos that I let others see. No accidental backgrounds.

I like it.

Might I ask why you chose to frame it vertically?

Manglesphoto, let me apologize for being a bit touchy and then overbearing. I should have realized that you don’t know me and probably meant no offense. I’ll temper myself in the future.

Hi JD. Thanks for the interest in my photo. Unless I misremember, Kasia was wearing some kind of warm boots or slippers, something like that. This image was made in winter and she lived in a kind of drafty upper flat. Most models do whatever they can to stay warm. I guess vertical just happened.

Not a problem John, let me apologize for a poor choice of words, I do have a tendency to be as subtle as a sledge hammer.
And your right I meant no offense, I saw great work in your previous post, which I felt was lacking in this one nothing more nothing less!
I no longer shoot nudes, it's difficult for me to find models, I don't have the funds to pay their fees.
My work was always done TFP/TFCD.Plus soon being 82 yrs old and no place for a studio I just try and enjoy other peoples work.
Once again let me apologize,
