Is there an easy method, that I have overlooked that can find duplicate photos on a I Mac?
I've been going from the oldest and the process is tedious.

There is no system function on a Mac that will do that. There are apps for it though. Look it up in the App Store. It’s free, called Photos Duplicate Cleaner.

I have tried this but with very limited success. I suspect the app you pay money for might work better but I'm a scrooge refusing to pay out for something that a little time and effort will achieve for nothing.

Erasing unwanted photos from a MAC is just as easy as from an IBM. Highlight your target and press "DELETE." Culprit disappears instantly. No fuss-no mess.

I had the same problem and found this on the App Store. I bought the bundle that had photo sweeper and photo mill. if you need to rename your photos I would get the bundle.

Perhaps I'm over simplifying your response, but I don't think his concern is how to delete an unwanted photo, but how to find DUPLICATES.
Duplicate photos are the nemesis of my storage capacity and I wish I could find something that works; so far no luck.
With 30,000+ images on my HD, it would be an endless operation to delete the duplicates manually.

I haven't used, but have you checked out Duplicate Annihilator For Photos for Mac?
This looks good and I will try it. Thank you

Please let us know how it goes for you.
I’ll be interested in it also. I’ve manually deleted quite a few so far.
When I get a chance I’ll take a closer look at the apps suggestions.
Thanks

Personally, I do not want to download something from an "unvetted" site - too many opportunities for them to pass on a corrupted/hidden nefarious elements containing file. I prefer the Apple App Store or trusted site with lots of good reviews or personal experience in downloading.
I use Gemini-2 (as a companion to CleanMyMac app) to maintain my Mac Mini. Have used Duplicate Detective in the past, as well.

I use Awesome Duplicate Finder. I think it's great, but it's for Windows. I googled "Awesome Duplicate Finder Mac" and there were several hits. Since I don't have a Mac, I could not evaluate them.
